Providers Master File

In the Providers master file, you can set up providers who offer a service or refer a patient for a service. You can set the access right for the Provider master file to read-only for user groups. The setting prevents the user group from modifying the master file. For more information on setting up rights and permissions, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest System Administrator Guide for NextGen® Enterprise and see Rights and Permissions section. On the Providers List window, you can see the Rendering, Providers and National Provider ID columns. Rendering providers are indicated by a checkmark in the Rendering column. You can set providers as rendering on the Add/Modify Provider Information window of the Practice tab. The National Provider ID column displays the NPI number linked to the provider. File Maintenance Module

The File Maintenance module subgroup in the System Administrator application enables users to create, edit, delete, and copy the items that can be set up in File Maintenance: code tables, libraries, master files, and master lists. You can expand the File Maintenance subgroup so that you can set the rights for each item. Note: If a group has both the MODULES > File Maintenance > View access right unchecked and the OPERATIONS > File Maintenance > Access Rights set to No, then the users in the group cannot access File Maintenance from the NextGen® Enterprise PM menu or from the Application Launcher. Viewing Master Files for a Specific Product

You can reduce the number of master files listed to only those that are used by a specific product. The products that you are licensed for display under Master Files underneath System and Practice on the File Maintenance window. When you select a product, the master files related to that product are displayed in the File Maintenance desktop area. For example, if you select PM and you are licensed for Chart Tracking, the Chart Tracking master files are included in the master file list. If you are not licensed for Chart Tracking, those master files do not display. You can search for a master file by selecting Ctrl + F and then entering the master file name in the search box. Practice Preferences

Practice Preferences enable you to designate user-defined fields for the chart, the encounter, and the appointment. You can also set header and footer messages for forms and invoices, as well as set default codes to use throughout the system. Note: All of the features in Practice Preferences are optional. You can choose to use them based on the needs of your practice. Forms and Labels

Forms and Labels can be created in File Maintenance and then printed for an individual patient, or for multiple patients in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Any type of form that is used by a practice can be created in the Forms master file, or the Forms Enhanced master file. Some forms may be used to gather information from a patient, such as an intake form. Other forms may be used to provide information to a patient or to their insurance provider. Each form is created using a combination of free-text verbiage for static information on the form, and data fields that are automatically populated with patient-specific information when the form is printed. Labels that are used by a practice can be created in the Label Templates master file. Examples include mailing labels, chart labels and specimen labels. Patient Data Collected

Although the procedure to add patients is the same, the data collected by NextGen® Enterprise EHR, NextGen® Enterprise PM, and NextGen® Optical Management differs, as shown in the following table.
