Rx Units
The Rx Units master file contains a full list of medication units. This is a user-defined table.
To add or modify an Rx Unit, perform the following steps:
Do one of the following:
To add a new item, select
Open Menu
, and then select
New
.
To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, select
Open Menu
, and then select
Open
. You can also double-click to open the item.

SIG Code
The SIGs master file contains a complete list of all medication dosage instructions. This master file is usually populated during installation; data initially stored in the master file is dependent on the original NextGen database. You can enter additional SIG Codes. To add or modify a SIG code: Do one of the following: To add a new item, select Open Menu , and then select New. To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, select Open Menu , and then select Open. You can also double-click open the item. Note: You can enter an asterisk ( * ) to list all the records. The Add/Modify SIG Information window displays. Field Description Key Enter a standard abbreviation for the dosage instructions. If you are adding a new SIG Code, enter a unique key. Description Enter a full description. Note Enter additional information. If you want to hide the item in the list, select the Hide check box. Add or Modify Diagnosis Statuses
The Diagnosis Statuses master file enables you to set up the statuses for diagnosed conditions based on user-defined criteria. This master file provides a complete list of statuses of diagnosed conditions in the database. This is a user-defined table. From the Master Files - System list, select Diagnosis Status. The Diagnosis Statuses List window opens. Do one of the following: To add a new item, select open menu , and then select New. To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, select open menu , and then select Open. You can also double-click to open the item. The Add/Modify Diagnosis Status Information window opens. Enter a full description of diagnosis status in the Description field. Note: It is strongly recommended that you set up the first record for status with a description like None or something similar. Add Rx Note
The Medications module enables you to add, view, modify, and delete notes related to a medication. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Medications module. Select a medication. Select the Add Note link. The Medication Note window opens. Select a type of note. Medication Note Enter the details for your note. Medication Note text Select OK. Add or Modify Diagnosis Severities
The Diagnosis Severities master file enables you to set up levels that indicate the severity of a patient's diagnosed condition. Diagnosis Severity is based on user-defined criteria. This master file should contain a comprehensive list of severities. From the Master Files - System list, select Diagnosis Severity. The Diagnosis Severities List window opens. Do one of the following: To add a new item, select open menu , and then select New. To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, select open menu , and then select Open. Modify Medications
You can view medication information and, if necessary, modify it for company-specific and provider-specific medications. From the Master Files - System list, select Medication Tasks. The Medications Task window opens. Under Medications Tasks, select Medications. The Manage Medication Defaults window opens. In the Search for Medication field, enter the medication name, and then select Search. The search results appear in the list. Select a medication in the list. The medication details appear. Medication Reasons
NextGen® Enterprise EHR uses the Medication Reasons master file as a repository for the reasons that a medication is being prescribed in the Medications Module. This reason becomes part of the Sig for the prescribed medication. File Maintenance includes a default list of reasons, but you can add custom reasons. To add a medication reason: From the Master Files > System, select Medication Reasons. The Medications Reasons List window opens. From the list, do one of the following: To add a new item, select Open Menu , and then select New. To modify an item, select the item in the list, select Open Menu , and then select Open. In the Add/Modify Medication Reasons Information window, enter the name of the reason in the Medication Reason Description field and, if necessary, enter a Note. For the reasons that were installed by default, the Note field displays the text System Generated.
