Field	Description
Key	Enter a standard abbreviation for the dosage instructions. If you are adding a new SIG Code, enter a unique key.
Description	Enter a full description.

SIG Code

The SIGs master file contains a complete list of all medication dosage instructions. This master file is usually populated during installation; data initially stored in the master file is dependent on the original NextGen database. You can enter additional SIG Codes. To add or modify a SIG code: Do one of the following: To add a new item, select Open Menu , and then select New. To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, select Open Menu , and then select Open. You can also double-click open the item. Note: You can enter an asterisk ( * ) to list all the records. The Add/Modify SIG Information window displays. Field Description Key Enter a standard abbreviation for the dosage instructions. Rx Units

The Rx Units master file contains a full list of medication units. This is a user-defined table. To add or modify an Rx Unit, perform the following steps: Do one of the following: To add a new item, select Open Menu , and then select New. To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, select Open Menu , and then select Open. You can also double-clickto open the item. The Add/Modify Rx Units Information window displays. Field Description Rx Unit Description Enter a full descriptiom of the medication sent. Note Enter additional information. If you want to hide the item in the list, select the Hide check box. Enter all required medication information. Select or build a SIG. The selected SIG is automatically assigned to the medication. If the SIG contains more characters than the display allows, the text is truncated. If you hover the cursor over the truncated text, a tooltip displays the complete SIG. If the SIG exceeds the 140-character maximum for electronic prescriptions, an alert appears next to the SIG text. Select a SIG You can change the quantity and the interval of the medication by either typing the values or using the arrows to select the appropriate values. Zip Codes

The ZIP Codes master file contains detailed information that is updated regularly. You can create additional ZIP Codes if they do not already exist by creating them: in the master file. on the fly while you are entering patient or person information in an application such as NextGen® Enterprise PM. This master file saves you time during data entry because when you enter an existing ZIP Code for an address, the associated information (city, state, country, and county) automatically fills in for the remaining fields.
