Select a SIG

After you enter the required medication information, you must select a SIG.

  1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and access the Medications module.
  2. Select a medication.
  3. Enter all required medication information.
  4. Select or build a SIG.
    The selected SIG is automatically assigned to the medication.
    • If the SIG contains more characters than the display allows, the text is truncated. If you hover the cursor over the truncated text, a tooltip displays the complete SIG.
    • If the SIG exceeds the 140-character maximum for electronic prescriptions, an alert appears next to the SIG text.

  5. You can change the quantity and the interval of the medication by either typing the values or using the arrows to select the appropriate values.

  6. If you made any changes to the SIG, you must select Accept.
    The Dose Range window opens displaying the message that the dosage resulting from the SIG built exceeds the maximum daily dose.
  7. Select OK.
    The SIG and the dosage warning appear in red.

  8. Make changes to the SIG or dosage.
