Enter Required Medication Information

You must enter the required medication information after selecting a medication. The required medication information depends on the settings in System Administrator. The fields that are enabled in the universal preference for your practice are highlighted in red in the Medications module. Contact your System Administrator regarding specific requirements for your medical facility. Search for and select a medication. Add a SIG. Do one of the following: In the Problem section, select Add. Select Patient Conditions View. The Patient Condition panel opens. Patient Condition pane To select the diagnosis from the Patient Condition panel, do one of the following: Double-click a diagnosis. Right-click a diagnosis and then select Add To Medication. Drag a diagnosis to the Problem section. You can add up to three diagnoses to a medication. Select a pharmacy. Note: The Pharmacy field is available only for medications in Temporary status. Real-Time Prescription Benefit

The Medications module supports the Real-Time Prescription Benefit (RTPB) feature when you prescribe new medications. Note: The RTPB feature is supported only with Surescripts. The RTPB feature enables you to view the estimated cost of the prescribed medication for patients based on their specific formulary and benefit coverage. This feature also enables you to view the available alternative medications. You can select a cost-efficient alternative medication and replace the originally requested medication. Estimated Patient Cost The RTPB feature is available if the following conditions are met: The RTPB universal preference and user preference are enabled. Patient has Rx eligibility. Patient has an active pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) coverage. Patient's PBM participates in RTPB. Note: If the Medications module or the patient's pharmacy does not respond, the Benefit Information Unavailable. Retry? link appears. Select Medication from the Report Filter Settings List. Report Filter Select to prompt the Medication Search window. Medication Search Select the type of search: DEA Class, Class or Name. Enter the search criteria. Select whether to include Generics and/or Retired medications. Clear the Active Medication check box if you wish to include all available medications. Select Search. Select the desired medications. Select OK. The medications display in Medication Search pane on the Medications window. Report Filter Select whether to Include or Exclude displayed medications. Select whether to display only the patients Who Have Never Had or Who Have Ever Had before or after a specific date or between a specific date range or Who Have Not Had Since a specific date. Complete the Prescription Details

When you prescribe medication for a patient, you can perform the following tasks on the RxDetails view. Calculate the quantity of medication needed based on the start date, stop date, and the Sig. The duration of the medication is calculated automatically. Calculate the stop date based on the quantity, start date, and the Sig. Note: If you select a medication from a medication favorite group, the fields on RxDetails are filled with the corresponding values defined for the group in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. If needed, you can edit the fields for your patient on the RxDetails view. Open NextGen® Mobile. Select a medication for the patient. The RxDetails view opens. To change the dosage, do the following: Select the medication name and dosage. The Select Medicine view displays the list of available dosages. Select the desired dosage.
