Prescribe Medication using Real-Time Prescription Benefit

In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, open the Medications module. Run the Rx Eligibility for the patient and then select Prescribe New. Search and select the medication using the formulary search option. The medication you selected appears under the Temporary status. Temporary Status Select the applicable pharmacy. Enter the medication quantity and day supply. The day supply value is calculated by dividing the prescribed quantity by the daily doses. The field supports up to three numeric values. Note: The estimated cost of the medication for the patient appears, and the Show Alternatives/Pricing Coverage link becomes available. Select Show Alternatives/ Pricing Coverage. The Alternatives/Pricing Coverage window opens which displays the alternative medication options. The window also displays the patient’s deductible and additional pricing coverage details. Prescribe Therapeutic Alternatives for On-Formulary Medications

You can prescribe therapeutic alternatives to selected On-Formulary medications for a patient in the NextGen® Mobile Medications module. Therapeutic alternatives are medications that are chemically different but provide a similar therapeutic effect as the prescribed medication. Before you begin You can provide therapeutic alternatives of selected medications to the patient only if you do the following: Register for the Early Access Program. Select prescribed medication that is On-Formulary. Open NextGen® Mobile. Open the Patient Chart view for your patient. Select Today's Visit. Note: You must select an unlocked encounter or create an encounter. In NextGen® Mobile, the Medications module is available for NextGen® Enterprise EHR 6.2021.1 and later versions. Select the open "" icon or View All next to Medications (Rx).In Medications, the patient's active medications appear. Note: The Prescribe New Rx option is available for default provider active encounters. Select Prescribe New Rx, and

You can prescribe a new medication to a patient from the Medication Search window. Note: NextGen® Enterprise EHR automatically checks a new prescribed medication against the patient’s other prescribed medications and displays an alert if a drug interaction exists. NextGen® Enterprise EHR displays an alert for inactive ingredients with the associated allergic reactions and the percentage of available formulation that contains the inactive ingredients. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open Medications module. Select Prescribe New. The Medication Search window opens. Search for a medication. Note: If you select a medication that is a duplicate of an active or a pending medication for the patient, or if you select a medication that has contraindications to an existing patient's diagnosis, NextGen® Enterprise EHR displays a warning message. You can select medications from the NextGen® Ambient Assist suggestions, favorite groups, and the main list and send them to a patient's preferred pharmacy in NextGen® Mobile. If the ambient assist note is available, you can select medications from the Suggested tab; otherwise, you can select medications from the Favorites or Search tab. Open NextGen® Mobile. When you prescribe medication for a patient, you can perform the following tasks on the RxDetails view. Calculate the quantity of medication needed based on the start date, stop date, and the Sig. The duration of the medication is calculated automatically. Calculate the stop date based on the quantity, start date, and the Sig. Note: If you select a medication from a medication favorite group, the fields on RxDetails are filled with the corresponding values defined for the group in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. If needed, you can edit the fields for your patient on the RxDetails view. Open NextGen® Mobile. Select a medication for the patient. The RxDetails view opens. To change the dosage, do the following: Select the medication name and dosage. The Select Medicine view displays the list of available dosages. Select the desired dosage.
