List of Available Selections for Units
The mandate by National Council for Prescription Drug Program (NCPDP) 2017071 SCRIPT Standard identified 28 Quantity of Measure codes. New medications prescriptions default to the new Quantity Unit of Measure codes as per NCPDP 201707 Script standards. The medications already prescribed will maintain the existing units even if it is a sunset code and must be changed from the Unit list.
The Unspecified unit is used only if the dosage form or measurement is not listed, if a new Quantity Unit Of Measure is not yet available, or none of the existing terms fit the amount prescribed. The use of Unspecified term may set an auditing flag if used indiscriminately.
The following units of measure are available in the Units list.
