Modify Medications

You can view medication information and, if necessary, modify it for company-specific and provider-specific medications. From the Master Files - System list, select Medication Tasks. The Medications Task window opens. Under Medications Tasks, select Medications. The Manage Medication Defaults window opens. In the Search for Medication field, enter the medication name, and then select Search. The search results appear in the list. Select a medication in the list. The medication details appear. To modify the medication, select Edit. The fields become available. Enter the medication information. For more information, refer to Manage Medication Defaults Field Descriptions. Select Save. Add User-Defined Medications

You can add additional medications to the list of company-specific and provider-specific medications. You can add a user-defined medication only if it does not already exist in your database. CAUTION: If you add a user-defined medication, you cannot delete it. To add a user-defined medication, do the following: From the Master Files - System list, select Medication Tasks. The Medications Task window opens. Under Medications Tasks, select Add User-Defined Medication. The Add User-Defined Medications window opens. Enter information for the medication. Select Save. Add User-Defined Medications Field Descriptions

You can use this table when adding user-defined medications. Field Description Brand Name Enter the brand name of the medication. Generic Name Enter the generic name of the medication. Form Select the form in which the medication is administered. DEA Class Select the Drug Enforcement Agency Class that indicates the degree of potential abuse and level of Federal control over the medication. Strength Enter the medication strength. Route Select the method in which the medication is administered. Assigned UDM ID Quantity/ Refills Set the default values for the quantity and number of refills. Generic OK Specify whether the generic brand equivalent is permitted for the medication. Default SIG Select List Codes or List Description to determine how you want the medication directions to list in the drop-down field below. Medication Tasks

The Medication Tasks master file provides a comprehensive list of all medications in the database. This master file is usually populated during installation. You can view medications, modify the list, and add additional medications to the list of company-specific and provider-specific medications. You can also group medications according to payer, problem, or practice interface. Add User-Defined Medications from the Medications Module

You cannot delete a user-defined medication. The Add UDM button is available only if the Allow Entry of User Defined Medication universal preference is set to True. Open the Medication Search window. Medication Search Select the search type from the Search list. Enter a full or partial name of the medication in the Find field. If the medication does not exist in your database, select Add UDM. The Add User Defined Medication window opens. The Brand Name and Generic Name fields are required.
