Managing External System Information

On the External tab, you can enter ID numbers from other systems for a person or patient. This functionality is used with interfaces between a NextGen application and another external application where the ID number for each person or patient is different in the two systems. Examples include a demographics interface with a hospital, or an orders interface with a lab. Information on the External tab is stored at the system level; therefore, all practices in all enterprises share the same information for a person or patient. Add External Systems for Users

In the user details, the External tab enables you to add external systems that interface with NextGen® Enterprise applications and to associate those systems with the selected user. The External tab displays the following columns: Column Description External System Lists the external systems that were selected for the External System field when new external systems were added. These external systems interface with the NextGen application. External System ID Lists the IDs assigned to the external systems. External Record ID Lists the data entered for the External ID field when new external systems were added. Internal Record ID Lists the internal ID automatically assigned to the external ID. To add an external system, from theExternaltab, do one of the following: To add a new item, select theOpen Menubutton, and then selectNew. Add External Systems for Employers

The External tab allows you to add external systems that interface with the NextGen® Enterprise application and to associate those systems with an employer. From the External tab, do one of the following: To add a new item, select open menu , and then select New. To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, select open menu , and then select Open. The Add External Interface window opens. In the External ID field, enter the ID that represents the resource in the external system. In the External System field, select the system to interface with the NextGen® Enterprise application. Do one of the following: To save changes and add another external system, select Next. To save changes and close the window, select OK. Export Patient Documents to NextGen® Enterprise Rosetta Interface Messenger

For NextGen® Enterprise Rosetta Interface Messenger export, NextGen® Enterprise Rosetta Interface Messenger and any required agents must be installed and configured for use by NextGen Healthcare. For more information, contact NextGen Healthcare Client Support. To select documents for export, follow step 1 to step 5 in Select Patient Documents for Export. On the Export Patient Documents window, select Rosetta, and then select Export. CAUTION: If you have included sensitive data, it will be exported to NextGen® Enterprise Rosetta Interface Messenger. A message window opens, notifying you that the selected number of documents is queued for export by Rosetta agents. Select OK. Parent topic: Select Patient Documents for Export

Providers External Tab

The External tab allows you to add external systems that interface with the NextGen application and to associate them with a Provider. The External tab displays the following columns: Column Description External ID Lists the ID assigned to the external systems. External System Lists the external system that interfaces with the application. Creator Displays the name of the user who created the entry. Create Date Displays the date that the entry was created. From the External tab, do one of the following: To add a new item, select Open Menu , and then select New. To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, select Open Menu , and then select Open. The Add External window opens. In the External ID field, enter the ID that represents the resource in the external system. In the External System field, select the system to interface with the NextGen application. Add an External ID

Open the Person Information or Patient Information window for the desired person or patient. Select the Ext tab. Select the Open Menu button, and select New. The Add External Interface window appears. In the External ID field, enter the person or patient's identifier in the external system. This field is required. In the External System field, select from list the appropriate external system. This field is required. Select one of the following buttons: To save changes and add another external system for the person or patient, select Next. To save changes and close the window, select OK. To close the window without saving changes, select Cancel. In the Other ID Number field, enter an identifier for the person or patient that is not related to an external system, if applicable. This number can be used when searching by Other ID Nbr on the Patient Lookup window. For example, enter a patient's medical record number from a legacy application. To save changes and close the window, select OK.
