Managing Demographic Information

On the Demographics tab, you can enter general information for a person or patient, such as address, demographics, contact phone numbers, contact, insurance, and notification methods for the patient. If your practice is licensed for EDI, the link appears on this window. When you select the link, the EDI Messaging window opens where you can view the patient's notification preferences for balance reminders, appointment reminders, and recall plans. Information on the Demographics tab is stored at the system level; therefore, all practices in all enterprises share the same information for a person or patient. Managing Employer Information

On the Employer tab, you can enter employer information for a person or patient, including the name, address, and phone and fax numbers for the employer. In addition, you can enter the person or patient's occupation and employment status. Information on the Employer tab is stored at the system level; therefore, all practices in all enterprises share the same information for a person or patient. Managing Pharmacy Information

On the Pharmacy tab, you can enter up to two preferred pharmacies for a patient. Pharmacy information includes name, address, and phone and fax numbers. The information is saved for established patients with an existing chart, and for new patients when the chart is created. Information on the Pharmacy tab is stored at the practice level; therefore, each practice can enter and maintain different information for a patient. Note: Pharmacies entered from the Patient Information window update the Patient Demographics template for the patient in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and vice versa. Patient Data Collected

Although the procedure to add patients is the same, the data collected by NextGen® Enterprise EHR, NextGen® Enterprise PM, and NextGen® Optical Management differs, as shown in the following table. Viewing History Information

The History tab appears only for existing persons and patients. It does not appear when creating a record for a new person or patient. On this tab, you can view the history of modifications made to the person or patient's information on the following tabs; Demographics, Status, Client Defined, Employer, UDS, Pharmacy, and Chart Details. Information on the History tab is stored at the system level; therefore, all practices in all enterprises share the same information for a person or patient. Note: History information cannot be modified or deleted. Add an External ID

Open the Person Information or Patient Information window for the desired person or patient. Select the Ext tab. Select the Open Menu button, and select New. The Add External Interface window appears. In the External ID field, enter the person or patient's identifier in the external system. This field is required. In the External System field, select from list the appropriate external system. This field is required. Select one of the following buttons: To save changes and add another external system for the person or patient, select Next. To save changes and close the window, select OK. To close the window without saving changes, select Cancel. In the Other ID Number field, enter an identifier for the person or patient that is not related to an external system, if applicable. This number can be used when searching by Other ID Nbr on the Patient Lookup window. For example, enter a patient's medical record number from a legacy application. To save changes and close the window, select OK.
