Person Data Collected

The procedure to add a new person is the same in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, NextGen® Enterprise PM, and NextGen® Optical Management, but the data collected by each application differs, as shown in the following table. Managing Pharmacy Information

On the Pharmacy tab, you can enter up to two preferred pharmacies for a patient. Pharmacy information includes name, address, and phone and fax numbers. The information is saved for established patients with an existing chart, and for new patients when the chart is created. Information on the Pharmacy tab is stored at the practice level; therefore, each practice can enter and maintain different information for a patient. Note: Pharmacies entered from the Patient Information window update the Patient Demographics template for the patient in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and vice versa. Viewing History Information

The History tab appears only for existing persons and patients. It does not appear when creating a record for a new person or patient. On this tab, you can view the history of modifications made to the person or patient's information on the following tabs; Demographics, Status, Client Defined, Employer, UDS, Pharmacy, and Chart Details. Information on the History tab is stored at the system level; therefore, all practices in all enterprises share the same information for a person or patient. Note: History information cannot be modified or deleted. Managing Demographic Information

On the Demographics tab, you can enter general information for a person or patient, such as address, demographics, contact phone numbers, contact, insurance, and notification methods for the patient. If your practice is licensed for EDI, the link appears on this window. When you select the link, the EDI Messaging window opens where you can view the patient's notification preferences for balance reminders, appointment reminders, and recall plans. On the Demographics tab of the Person Information or Patient Information window, you can enter the following data: General Information - includes name, sexual profile, social security number, and birth date. Contact Information - includes phone numbers, email address, and preferred contact methods. Demographic Information - includes marital status, student status, preferred language, religious information, and dental and primary provider. You can also enroll the patient in the Enterprise Chart feature. Insurance Information - includes insurers, authorizations, referrals, and eligibility inquiries. The optional and required fields that display on this window are determined by your system administrator's selections in Enterprise and Chart Practice Preferences. Management of Demographic Records

In NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM, demographic records can be added or modified from either the Person Information window or the Patient Information window. In NextGen® Optical Management, demographics records are added or modified from the Patient Information window. Before adding a demographic record for a new person or patient, you must perform a lookup to verify a record does not already exist in the database. This practice helps to avoid duplicate records. To modify a demographic record for an existing person or patient, you must also perform a lookup to access the existing record.
