Managing Demographic Information

On the Demographics tab, you can enter general information for a person or patient, such as address, demographics, contact phone numbers, contact, insurance, and notification methods for the patient. If your practice is licensed for EDI, the link appears on this window. When you select the link, the EDI Messaging window opens where you can view the patient's notification preferences for balance reminders, appointment reminders, and recall plans. Information on the Demographics tab is stored at the system level; therefore, all practices in all enterprises share the same information for a person or patient. Management of Demographic Records

In NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM, demographic records can be added or modified from either the Person Information window or the Patient Information window. In NextGen® Optical Management, demographics records are added or modified from the Patient Information window. Before adding a demographic record for a new person or patient, you must perform a lookup to verify a record does not already exist in the database. This practice helps to avoid duplicate records. To modify a demographic record for an existing person or patient, you must also perform a lookup to access the existing record. Demographic Information - includes marital status, student status, preferred language, religious information, and dental and primary provider. You can also enroll the patient in the Enterprise Chart feature. Insurance Information - includes insurers, authorizations, referrals, and eligibility inquiries. The optional and required fields that display on this window are determined by your system administrator's selections in Enterprise and Chart Practice Preferences. All required fields display in red text.
