Managing an Expired Patient Record

Future appointments and active recalls can be cancelled when an expired date (date of death) is entered on the Demographics tab of the Modify Patient/Person Information window.

When a Patient/Person is marked as expired, you are prompted to stop active recalls and future appointments from the Demographics tab of the Modify Patient/Person Information window regardless of security permissions in the following applications:

  • NextGen® Enterprise PM - from the Demographics tab of the Modify Patient/Person Information window and the Patient's Chart.
  • NextGen® Enterprise EHR - from the Demographics tab of the Modify Patient/Person Information window.
  • NextGen® Optical Management - from the Demographics tab of the Modify Patient/Person Information window.
  • NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine - When the Modify Patient/Person Information window is opened from a template.

Depending on the practice preference settings, you may or may not be prompted to enter a reason for stopping active recalls and cancelling future appointments for an expired patient. Reasons for tracking appointment cancellations and stopping active recalls are tracked on the following:

  • Cancelled Appointments Tracking
    • Appointment Listing Report
  • Stopped Recalls Tracking
    • Patient Recall Report
    • Significant Events Report
    • Patient's Chart on the Clinical History/Notes tab in Clinical History > Chart
