Managing External System Information
On the External tab, you can enter ID numbers from other systems for a person or patient. This functionality is used with interfaces between a NextGen application and another external application where the ID number for each person or patient is different in the two systems. Examples include a demographics interface with a hospital, or an orders interface with a lab. Information on the External tab is stored at the system level; therefore, all practices in all enterprises share the same information for a person or patient. Add, Modify, or Delete External IDs for a Patient or Person
External IDs in NextGen® Enterprise PM allow practices to associate a patient or other person with identifiers from external systems. These IDs can include patient account numbers from other healthcare facilities, insurance member IDs, or legacy system medical record numbers. Managing external IDs helps ensure accurate patient identification across systems and streamlines data exchange. Open the Person Information or Patient Information window for the desired person or patient. Select the External tab. To add an external ID, do the following: Select the open menu icon, and then select New. In the Add External Interface window, enter the identifier for the patient or other person, select External System, and then select OK. If applicable, in the Other ID Number field, enter a non-external identifier for the patient, such as a medical record number from a legacy system. Select OK. To delete an external ID, select the open menu icon, and then select Delete. Select OK. Parent topic: Managi
