Workgroups

Remote scanning in NextGen® Document Management requires that all remote locations, as well as the primary location, be part of a workgroup.

A workgroup is simply one or more IP addresses that exist on one end of a router. A workgroup can belong to a different practice or enterprise than the workgroup to which the primary location belongs. You should set up a Workgroup for each range of IP addresses within a physical location.

If you do not use the Remote Scanning Network Service with NextGen® Document Management, you can still configure Workgroups so that you can use the Cache location associated with each Workgroup. Provided its IP address is valid, the Workgroup Cache location overrides the Cache location specified in Practice Preferences.
