Locality Tax Rate
The Locality Tax Rate master file stores tax rate information for each city that uses the Tax Rate functionality.
- When charges are rebilled the tax rates for date of service for charges will define the tax rates that apply to taxes. Only one tax rate can apply per date of service.
- From the Master Files – System list, select PM > Locality Tax Rate.
The Locality Tax Rate Search window opens.
- Do one of the following:
- To add a new item, select Open Menu, and then select New.
- To modify an item, select it in the list, select Open Menu, and then select Open. You can also double-click the item to open it.
The Add Locality Tax Rate Information window opens. - Enter the effective and expiration dates for the tax rate.
Note: The effective time period for each Location Tax file is unique. Only one Location Tax file can be in effect at any one time.
- Enter the city, state, ZIP code, and county for the location.
Note: For the tax rates to be used, the ZIP code you entered has to match with the service location ZIP code of the encounter.
If you enter only the ZIP code, File Maintenance automatically fills in the City, State, and County fields.
- Enter the tax rate percentages for the location. The percentages can have up to three decimal values (for example, 8.758).
- Select Next to enter in new tax location information or select OK to return to the Locality Tax Rate Search window.
- The Locality Tax Rate Search window updates with new rows for each location. If you delete a tax percentage for a location, the deleted tax percentage displays as a 0 in the Locality Tax list.
