Managing Lab Orders and Immunizations

You can create and track lab, radiology, and immunization orders from the Orders Summary tab. You can also view the test results in the Orders module. You can manage orders for patients across your practice using the Orders Management order control in a custom practice template.

In the Immunizations module, you can access the immunization schedules to view the current vaccine schedule. The Immunizations module also enables you to view all immunizations for a patient and print the immunizations summary report.

You can also use the Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) workflow from NextGen® Enterprise EHR to search and select order items for a patient encounter.

Managing Order Details

When you select an order item, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) displays the order details in the following tabs based on the order type. All Laboratory Diagnostic Immunization In the All tab, CPOE displays a consolidated summary of all your selected order items, grouped by the order type and selected performing entities. In the Laboratory, Diagnostic, and Immunization tabs, CPOE displays the details of the respective order items. You can review and modify the details of your order items before placing your order. Note: CPOE saves your selected order items in the Incomplete Items list until you place the order. Manage General Order Details You can view and modify sections of the order that are common for all your selected order items. Orders Module

You can use the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module to create and manage your lab and radiology orders (also known as diagnostic imaging orders). You can perform the following tasks from the Orders module: Place and send lab and radiology orders. Complete unfinished lab or radiology orders for a patient that originate from a bulk order generated through NextGen Care® Population Management Hub. Choosing advanced imaging tests by their appropriate use criteria (AUC) scores when you place a radiology order. Set up order filters for your practice or private use. Set up schedules for future and recurring orders. Add, view, and track order comments from different areas of the Orders module. Enter test results manually or view test results received from an interface. Send lab results to NextGen® PxP Portal. Selecting Orders

To create your order, you can use one or both of the following approaches. You can select a diagnosis and then add the appropriate order items. This approach can be useful for differential diagnoses. For example, for a patient exhibiting symptoms of pneumonia, you may have two differential diagnoses—streptococcus pneumonia and viral pneumonia. You can select a set of tests specific to streptococcus pneumonia first, followed by a different set specific to viral pneumonia. You can select the order items first and then assign the diagnoses. In this approach, you can search for and select a laboratory, diagnostic, or immunization item using the following options.
