Auto Release Utility - Windows Service

The Auto Release Utility integrates with the Orders module to track future and recurring orders scheduled for sending across lab or radiology interfaces. With the Auto Release Utility, you can: Schedule an order today and set it to release after six months. Schedule an order to release at multiple intervals within six months based on your needs. The Auto Release Utility offers two installation options: Windows-based service, which automatically restarts after interruptions. Standalone mode, which operates independently. You can install only one format at a time, selecting the one that best meets your requirements. Set up the Auto Release Windows Service You must configure the Auto Release Windows Service to invoke the utility and release order instances. Set up the Orders Auto Release Utility

To set up the Auto Release criteria for your practice, on the Auto Release Form window, select the Plus + sign. The Details window opens. For the Instance Name, enter your practice's user-defined name. For the Process Time, enter the time the system releases the future and recurring orders. The system releases the future and recurring orders based on the due date selected when the order was created in the Orders module, and according to the number of days specified in File Maintenance Auto Release Orders Due In practice preference. For example, if you set up 3 days in the Auto Release Orders Due In field, the system releases the order 3 days before the scheduled due date. In the Practices section, select the practices for this Instance. Select Add. The Auto Release Form window displays the added instance (that is, the practice's user-defined name) and the process time. Select Activate Selected Instance. The Security Log On window opens. Set up the NextGen Orders Auto Release Utility for Multiple Instances

Open Orders Auto Release utility. Note: For quicker access, create Short Cuts on your Windows Desktop for each Instance you intend to set up. For example, if you are setting up three instances, create three short cuts, such as Lab Clinic Region 1, Lab Clinic Region 2, and Lab Clinic Region 3. On the Auto Release Form window, in Instance Name, enter the Instance name for the first instance. Select the Plus + sign. The Details window opens. In the Practices section, select the practices that are associated with this Instance. For Process Time, enter the time the system releases the appropriate Future and Recurring orders for the selected practices. Select Add. The Auto Release Form window opens. Select Activate Selected Instance. If you are not logged into your current practice, the Security Log On window opens. Log in to continue. Minimize the Auto Release Form window. CAUTION: Do not exit. Create Multiple Instances for the Order

On the AutoReleaseForm window, you can create multiple order instances for your practice to release it automatically multiple times. However, you must restart the Windows Service after the addition or change of instances. Select Start , and enter Command Prompt. Right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator. The Administrator: Command Prompt window opens. Enter the appropriate directory to change to the NextGen root folder. Note: Ensure that your changed directory has the NextGen root folder. In Command Prompt, enter NextGen.EMR.Lab.AutoRelease.exe "1". Command Prompt with NextGen Directory Note: The parameter 1 is passing for invoking the Auto Release Utility user interface. Select Enter. The NextGen security logon window opens. NextGen Logon Window Enter your user credentials, select your enterprise and practice, and then select Logon. The AutoReleaseForm window opens. Run the NextGen Orders Auto Release Utility on Demand

After you set up the Orders Auto Release Utility, you can automatically release the Recurring and Future orders on demand. From the Windows® System Tray/Notification area, double-click the NextGen EHR Orders Auto Release utility icon. In the Instance list, select the appropriate Instance Name. Select Details. The Details window opens, displaying the scheduled run time. To override the scheduled run time and run the Auto Release immediately, select Run Now. The orders are automatically release. Select the Close (X) button. Note: Auto releasing orders on demand does not change the original Auto Release set up time. Setting Up and Working with Future and Recurring Orders

For Lab and Radiology order types, you can set up schedules for future and recurring orders, as follows: Set schedules for recurring and future orders when creating a new lab or radiology order. Quickly display the recurring and future orders schedule from the Orders Summary tab for review. Reschedule recurring and future order from the Orders Summary tab. Note: You can also reschedule recurring and future orders from the Orders Management order control on a custom practice template for multiple patients in a practice. Update the due date for test results. Note: You can track and update the Expect Results date for future and recurring orders. If your practice has set up the Auto Release function in File Maintenance, you can use this function to "mark" future and recurring orders for automatic release.
