Modify Assigned Diagnoses on Orders

When you select a diagnosis in the Assign Diagnosis section, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) automatically adds it to all the selected order items. You can manually change the diagnosis selection for individual order items. Open CPOE. Select an order item. Assign a diagnosis to the selected order item. To modify the diagnosis for an order item, do one of the following: In the All tab, select the expand icon corresponding to the order item. Select the Laboratory, Diagnostic, or Immunization tab, and then select the expand icon corresponding to the order item. The Modify Diagnosis section appears. Select a diagnosis. Note: You can select multiple diagnoses. For more information on how to use the Search and Clear options under Modify Diagnosis, see steps 4-6 in Add Diagnoses to Order Items. Manage General Order Details

In the All tab, which displays a summary of all your selected order items, you can view and modify the diagnoses for each order item; and any information that is common for all the selected order items, such as ordering provider, location, and insurance details. Note: Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) groups the order items by order type and performing entity. Open CPOE. Select an order item. Assign a diagnosis to the selected order item. Note: For an immunization order item, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) automatically adds the default ICD-10-CM Z23 diagnosis code. Manage Tasks for Order Recipients

Before you begin Ensure that you have configured user privileges in System Administrator. Ensure that you have configured the recipients list in Quick Task setup. You can use Quick Task Setup template to create a task for an order type and associate it with a recipient work group. Whenever you place an order for that specific order type, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) automatically fills the recipient details in your order task. You can manually change the task's recipient and subject, or even cancel the task before placing the order. Open CPOE. Select an order item. To view the details of the order based on the order type, select the Laboratory, Diagnostic, or Immunization tab. To cancel generating a task when placing the order, select Off. To modify the task recipient details, do the following: Select Task To. The New EHR Task window opens. To add a recipient or work group, select Add corresponding to Assign to. Selecting Orders

To create your order, you can use one or both of the following approaches. You can select a diagnosis and then add the appropriate order items. This approach can be useful for differential diagnoses. For example, for a patient exhibiting symptoms of pneumonia, you may have two differential diagnoses—streptococcus pneumonia and viral pneumonia. You can select a set of tests specific to streptococcus pneumonia first, followed by a different set specific to viral pneumonia. You can select the order items first and then assign the diagnoses. In this approach, you can search for and select a laboratory, diagnostic, or immunization item using the following options. Handle AOE Questions

Before you begin Before you begin, ensure that you have configured the Order AOE Questions and Order AOE Answers system master files in File Maintenance. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest File Maintenance Master Files Guide for NextGen® Enterprise. You can answer Ask at Order Entry (AOE) questions while ordering laboratory and diagnostic tests through performing entities that require AOE, such as such as Labcorp and Quest Diagnostics® . Open CPOE. Select an order item. Assign a diagnosis to the selected order item. Select the Laboratory or Diagnostic tab. Under the AOE Question Answer section, select the answers to the questions. Before you begin While selecting your orders, ensure that you address all the mandatory indicators, which are denoted by . Ensure that you have completed the charge submission and payers information configurations in File Maintenance so that your practice can post charges for performing laboratory and diagnostic tests, and also automatically include Healthcare Common Procedural Coding System (HCPCS) codes and Modifiers in the charges for diagnostic orders with Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) check.
