Selecting Orders

To create your order, you can use one or both of the following approaches. You can select a diagnosis and then add the appropriate order items. This approach can be useful for differential diagnoses. For example, for a patient exhibiting symptoms of pneumonia, you may have two differential diagnoses—streptococcus pneumonia and viral pneumonia. You can select a set of tests specific to streptococcus pneumonia first, followed by a different set specific to viral pneumonia. You can select the order items first and then assign the diagnoses. In this approach, you can search for and select a laboratory, diagnostic, or immunization item using the following options. Perform AUC Check

Before you begin Ensure that you have configured Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) in File Maintenance. Clear Selected Order Items

You can clear the order items you selected in the COMMON ORDERS, SEARCH RESULTS, FAVORITES, and IMMUNIZATIONS lists. Open CPOE. Select an order item.The order details appear. Add diagnoses to the selected order items. Note: For an immunization order item, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) automatically adds the default ICD-10-CM Z23 diagnosis code. To clear a selected order item, do one of the following: In the left pane, clear the check box corresponding to the selected order item. Select Clear for Add. Note: Clear for Add only clears all the selected order items and diagnoses in the left pane. This option is useful when you want to create your order according to the patient's medical condition. You can select multiple combinations of tests and diagnoses. In the right pane, select the clear icon corresponding to the selected order item. View Placed Orders List

After you place an order in Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), the order status appears on the Placed Items list on the CPOE Order Search Bar. You can view the details of your order in the Orders module. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. Open CPOE. Select an order item. Assign a diagnosis to the selected order item. Note: For an immunization order item, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) automatically adds the default ICD-10-CM Z23 diagnosis code. Place the order. To view a summary of the placed orders, hover over Placed Items.A list of the placed orders for the encounter appears. To view the details of the placed orders, select Placed Items.The Orders Summary window in the Orders module opens. Modify Assigned Diagnoses on Orders

When you select a diagnosis in the Assign Diagnosis section, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) automatically adds it to all the selected order items. You can manually change the diagnosis selection for individual order items. Open CPOE. Select an order item. Assign a diagnosis to the selected order item. To modify the diagnosis for an order item, do one of the following: In the All tab, select the expand icon corresponding to the order item. Select the Laboratory, Diagnostic, or Immunization tab, and then select the expand icon corresponding to the order item. The Modify Diagnosis section appears. Select a diagnosis. Note: You can select multiple diagnoses. For more information on how to use the Search and Clear options under Modify Diagnosis, see steps 4-6 in Add Diagnoses to Order Items. Add Diagnoses to Order Items

Before you begin Ensure that you select the Require Assessment Status check box under Assessment in the Practice Configuration template to prevent adding any of your diagnosis selections in CPOE, to the following: As a new problem (Dx) under the selected encounter. As a new assessment under the My Plan tab in the SOAP, Intake, and other generated NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates. As a new assessment in the Diagnoses tab.
