Configure Charge Submission for Orders

For your practice to post charges for performing laboratory and diagnostic tests, you can define the charge using the Service Item (SIM) code or SIM group code for the test. You must also configure the schedule for posting charges on ordered tests for all types of performing entities, including any for in-house testing.
  1. Open File Maintenance.
  2. Under Master Files, select EHR, and then select Practices.
    The Practices List window opens.

  3. Double-click a practice name.
    The Modify Practice Information window opens.
  4. Select Preferences.
    The Practice Preferences window opens.

  5. Under Preference List, select Orders Module.
  6. Select the Lab/Rad tab.
  7. In the Charge Submission Defaults section, select the details icon.
    The Add Charge Submission Default window opens.

  8. From the External System list, select the vendor to post charges for performing tests.
  9. From the Charge Submission Method list, select one of the following:
    • Submit Charge upon Final Result Receipt
    • Submit Charge upon Order Creation
    • Submit Charge upon Order Sent
    • Manual Billing, indicates that you can decide whether the test is chargeable while placing the order.
    • No Billing, indicates that there are no applicable charges for the test.
  10. From the Service Date list, select one of the following:
    • Today's Date
    • Encounter Date
    • Collection Date
  11. Select OK.
    The charge submission selection appears in the Charge Submission Defaults section on the Practice Preferences window.
