Setting up Rights and Preferences for the Immunizations Module

The System Administrator should work closely with the core team of the practice to ensure that appropriate rights, preferences, SAP® Crystal Reports®, other reports, and other tasks are set up for the user groups. The administrator needs to update the Setup when the business needs change for the practice. Some functions and preferences are same for the Immunizations module and the Orders module. Therefore, if you are using the Orders module, ensure that you set up the preferences for the Orders module before you set up the Immunizations module. To schedule, process, track, and complete your order more efficiently, you need to set up the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module to meet your specific practice needs. Once you set up your NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module, you can then update and maintain these settings as your business needs change and the Orders process evolves over time. Before performing Orders tasks, such as creating and sending Lab and Radiology orders, you need to set up the appropriate system rights, preferences, and tasks for the Orders module. The setup enables you to establish the workflow foundation for your practice or enterprise and enables providers and the clinical staff to access and use the appropriate functionality. Orders Module

You can use the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module to create and manage your lab and radiology orders (also known as diagnostic imaging orders). You can perform the following tasks from the Orders module: Place and send lab and radiology orders. Complete unfinished lab or radiology orders for a patient that originate from a bulk order generated through NextGen Care® Population Management Hub. Choosing advanced imaging tests by their appropriate use criteria (AUC) scores when you place a radiology order. Set up order filters for your practice or private use. Set up schedules for future and recurring orders. Add, view, and track order comments from different areas of the Orders module. Enter test results manually or view test results received from an interface. Send lab results to NextGen® PxP Portal. Practice Preferences for the Orders Module

You can set up your practice's preferences for using the Orders module. The various preferences available for results, summaries, and immunizations are described in the table. Field Description Print Requisition when Lab Order is saved Select this option to automatically trigger the printing of lab orders when they are saved. Print Requisition when Radiology Order is saved Select this option to automatically trigger the printing of radiology orders when they are saved. Use NextGen Compendium for New lab Orders Select this option to use the NextGen Healthcare compendium value when new test orders are created. Setting Up Required fields for Order Processing

For more efficient order processing and best clinical practices, your practice may need to set up certain fields as required. For example, your practice wants the Diagnosis field to be required when ordering a lab or radiology test. The NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module enables you to select fields as required in File Maintenance Practice Preferences. Required fields can be set up for all of the order types, that is, Lab, Radiology, and Immunizations. Once you set up these fields as required, they will display in Red on the appropriate Orders or Immunizations window, when you add or update an existing order. Before an order can be saved, users must ensure that these required fields have been entered or selected.
