Set Up Practice Preferred Performing Entities

Using File Maintenance Practice Preference settings, you can select a default value for the performing entity to use for both lab tests and radiology orders for a selected practice. You can also set up In-House Performing Entity by which the laboratory and diagnostic order items mapped to this entity are displayed in the list of Common Orders in NextGen® Enterprise CPOE. Select File Maintenance > System > Practices. Select a practice. Select Preferences. Select Order module in the Preference List. To display the Lab or Radiology performing entities, select the Open Record button. The list of performing entities appears. Using the right and left arrows, select the Lab and Radiology performing entities. In the Performing Entities window, select OK. Select the Lab Preferred Performing Entity and the In-House Performing Entity from the list. Select the Radiology Preferred Performing Entity and the In-House Performing Entity from the list. Open Website Resources

Before you begin Ensure that you have set up the website URL in the Practice Preferences > Resources > Orders in File Maintenance. Note: For provider reference resource, you can set up the website URL as a NextGen® Enterprise EHR user preference in Tools > Preferences > Reference > Order Module - Lab Results. The user-level website URL configuration overrides the practice-level configuration. You can open specific website resources for patient education, clinical decision support, or provider reference. Note: For more information on setting up website URLs in Practice Preferences, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Orders Module Setup Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and select a patient. Open the Orders module and select the Results tab. In the results details, select the result value for the collection date and time. Assign External Provider Reference URLs at the User Level

NextGen® Enterprise EHR allows you to assign your own External Provider Reference URLs that override the URLs set up in the Practice Preferences in File Maintenance. Access NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From the Tools menu, select Preferences. On the Preferences window, select the Reference tab. In the External Provider Reference section, enter the URLs of the websites in the respective fields for the following modules: Diagnosis & Problem Modules Procedure Module Medication Module Medication Allergy Module Order Module - Lab Results Select Apply and then select OK. Assign External Resource Links in Practice Preferences

You can assign links for the external resources in the Resources Practice Preferences. Alternatively, users can External Provider References in the User Preferences in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. These User Preference settings override the settings from the Practice Preferences. CAUTION: Because you are responsible for setting up the URLs for your practice, NextGen Healthcare does not have prior knowledge of the code system expected by the receiving website. If an unsupported code is sent to the selected URL, the URL will fail and the website will return an error message. Open the Practice Preferences. From the Preference List, select Resources.
