Order Module Practice Preferences

Print Requisition when Lab Order is savedThis preference can be selected to automatically trigger the printing of lab orders when they are saved. If this preference is turned ON, NextGen® Enterprise EHR prints a copy of the current order when the Save button is selected on the new order page.
Print Requisition when Radiology Order is savedThis preference can be selected to automatically trigger the printing of radiology orders when they are saved. If this preferences is turned ON, NextGen® Enterprise EHR prints a copy of the current order when the Save button is selected on the new order page.
Use NextGen Compendium for New lab OrdersThis preference is set with a check box that when turned ON uses the NextGen compendium value when new Test orders are created.
Use NextGen Compendium for New Radiology OrdersThis preference is controlled with a check box that when turned ON uses the NextGen compendium value when new Radiology orders are created.
Allow Providers to Maintain Test FavoritesWhen this preference is turned ON, two buttons display on the Select Tests tab on a new order. They are:

Add to Favorites - This button allows you to add tests to your favorites after using the ‘Search All’ function. You search for different tests to select and then after select Add to Favorites and they are now in the provider's favorite list going forward.

Delete from Favorites - This button allows you to delete tests that are currently in your favorite lists (that were previously selected by the provider) and remove those tests from the provider's favorites.

Starting with Version 5.8, to be able to create and save Private results filters, select the Allow Providers to Maintain Test Favorites preference. For more information, refer to Setting Up a Private Results Filter.

Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) ThresholdYou can select a threshold number that indicates to the system to determine the minimum appropriateness score needed for an Advanced Imaging test. The AUC Threshold numbers range from 1 to 9, with 1 being the least appropriate and 9 being the most appropriate. The system default is 7, which indicates the image is appropriate.

Skip NextGen® Medical Necessity Check if no CPT4 Code

When setting up Medical Necessity, you have the option to select these Practice Preference. The purpose and how to access these fields is described in the Setting Up NextGen® Medical Necessity Check section.
Allow Patient Procedure Against a Locked EncounterYou can set up the Allow Patient Procedure Activity Against a Locked Encounter practice preference to enable the system to send charges to NextGen® Enterprise PM when an encounter is locked. The system only sends charges for a locked encounter for vendors that you have selected to have charges submitted upon final Results Received in the Charge Submission Defaults option.
Restrict Sign Off on Orders Not Yet FinalThis preference is selected to control the signoff of lab or radiology orders that are not finalized. If turned ON it does not allow a user to sign-off on a test order that does not have a status of Final.
Enable Default CC ProvidersThis preference allows you to automatically send a "carbon copy" to any referring physicians associated with the current patient. It is a check box on the Practice Preferences dialog box for the Orders module. The encounter must have a primary physician and a referring physician defined. If the check box is ON the copy is automatically sent to the referring physician. If the the check box is OFF no copy is sent.
Use Current EHR Provider/Location for New OrdersThis preference is used to set the default provider or location for any new orders in the Orders module. It determines if a new order becomes the default in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR or Encounter provider on which the order was created. It is a check box which if ON uses the current provider or location of the Encounter selected when the test was ordered.
Test FavoritesThis preference allows you to define the System that is used for Test Favorites. You can set a value for both the Radiology tests and Lab tests.
Charge Submission DefaultsThis preference allows you to post charges for performing tests. You have to define the charge for the test using the SIM code or SIM group code for the test. You also have to set up when to post the charges for tests from each type of performing entity that you use, including any in-house testing. In addition, If your practice does the specimen collection for a test, you can bill the insurance company for that portion of the test. To do that you have to define the SIM code for each specimen draw, that you perform. The SIM code determines what is charged.
Group to Notify for Failed ChargesThis preference allows you to set up a group(s) to notify for any failed test charges.
Preferred Performing EntitiesThis preference allows you to select a default lab or radiology site to use for orders for your practice.
Automatically Release Order to Today's EncounterThis preference enables you to indicate to the system to create a new encounter on the day that the future or recurring order is released. If you do not select this preference, when releasing a future or recurring order, the system uses the original encounter date.
Future/Recurring Order Expires After MonthsThis preference enables you to enter the number of months that the future or recurring order expires. The default is 15 months.
ReportsThis preference enables you to define where the Orders module should look for any Crystal reports or custom reports that you have defined for orders.
Default PrinterThis preference allows you to define the printer to use when the Orders module produces reports.
