Updating Lab and Radiology Orders

You can open an existing unlocked lab or radiology order and add or change details for it. You can also add comments for an updated order, if required. If the encounter associated with an order has been locked, you can only view the order. The Save, Save & Send, Save & Fax, Save & Print, or Save & Task actions are unavailable. When you update an unfinished order, you must complete all required fields that have been set up as Mandatory Data Points in File Maintenance Practice Preferences. These required fields appear in red text. If you do not fill in a required field, when you try to save your selections or entries, a message appears, prompting you to complete the field. Orders Module

You can use the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module to create and manage your lab and radiology orders (also known as diagnostic imaging orders). You can perform the following tasks from the Orders module: Place and send lab and radiology orders. Complete unfinished lab or radiology orders for a patient that originate from a bulk order generated through NextGen Care® Population Management Hub. Choosing advanced imaging tests by their appropriate use criteria (AUC) scores when you place a radiology order. Set up order filters for your practice or private use. Set up schedules for future and recurring orders. Add, view, and track order comments from different areas of the Orders module. Enter test results manually or view test results received from an interface. Send lab results to NextGen® PxP Portal. Orders Summary Grid Columns

The following table lists the columns that may appear on the Orders Summary grid for Lab and Radiology orders based on the pre-defined or user-defined filter you select. Column Description Image Type Opens an icon indicating the order type. This column appears by default for all filters. Comments Contains a link to the associated comments in the Sign-off and Tracking Comments panel. Documents Contains a link to an associated document or image or URL in the Results panel for the specific order. Recurrence Opens an icon indicating a future or recurring order. You can select the icon to open the View Order Schedule window where you can view order schedule. Ordered Elsewhere Opens an icon indicating the order was created outside the NextGen® Enterprise system. Order # The number assigned to an order when you create and save a new order. Export Manually Corrected Laboratory Results

You can manually correct results for completed laboratory orders and export the updated results to NextGen® PxP Portal. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and select a patient. Open the Orders module. On the Orders Summary tab, select a completed laboratory order that has been sent to a performing entity. Expand Results (reported results - formatted). Select the New Results Entry tab. The order details appear. Note: Ensure that the values in Comp. Key and Component match their original values. If necessary, you can correct the value for Result. To update the flag of the selected order, select a flag from the Flag list. From the Result Status list, select Corrected, and then select Save. Select the Formatted Results tab and verify the changes. To validate the order, select Sign-off. To enable Patient Portal, select Refresh, and then select Patient Portal. Using the Orders Summary Tab

The Orders Summary tab provides order information in the following panels: Orders panel. View, update, and track existing orders and create orders for the current patient. Results panel. View test results from an interface or manually enter test results and related documents for the current patient. This panel is collapsed when you open the Orders Summary tab, but you can expand it to view its contents. Sign-off and Tracking Comments panel. View and add order tracking or sign-off comments. Orders Module Main Tabs

When you access the Order Module window, three tabs appear: Results Displays lab and radiology test results for the current patient. The Results tab is displayed as the initial tab by default. You can set up user preferences to change the initial tab display. Orders Summary View orders for all or selected order types for the current patient. You can change existing orders and place new orders. Immunizations Order and track any vaccines given to a patient.
