View Order Tasks on Restricted Patients

If a patient in your practice has a restricted status that controls who can see their medical information, it effects how tasks related to that patient are restricted for display in the Workflow module. Users that do not have restricted status can see all of the patients; users that have restricted status can only see a message in the task window.

  1. Open System Administrator.
  2. Open the practice, select a user, and select the General tab.
  3. Select the Exclusion check box and select Modify to open the Modify Exclusion List window.
  4. Select a patient.
  5. Select Close and then select Update on the General tab.
  6. Close System Administrator.
  7. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR,
  8. Create a workgroup, name it and add this user to the workgroup.
  9. Save the workgroup.
  10. Open the Orders module
  11. Select a diagnosis and test order.
  12. Select Save & Task.
  13. Select the check box for the workgroup that you created in the earlier steps, and select OK.
When that user opens the Workflow module, the tasks related to test orders for that restricted patient appear in both the Patient and Description task fields with a message that this patient has ***Restricted*** access. The patient's name does not display for users that don't have access to the patient.
