New Document and Images Entry Tab

Option	Description
Select panel	Selects a result panel.
Browse File System	Browses the file system to look for a document or image file to attach. This function supports both -.doc and -.docx file formats. It also supports -.pcx format for images.
Search EHR	Searches NextGen® Enterprise EHR for documents or images on the encounter associated with this test.
Search DM	Searches for scanned Document Management (DM) images associated with the order for a patient.
Clear	Clear the list of documents and images.
Link	Links the selected document or image to the order. You can link -.pcx format images to a patient's file. The button label changes to Unlink Document/Image/Url when you select a linked document or image.
Document Status	Selects the document status from the list. For example, Final, Order cancelled, or Pending.

Search NextGen® Enterprise EHR for Documents or Images to Link

On the Orders Summary tab, select a completed test. To expand the Results panel, select the down arrow. Select the New Documents and Images Entry tab. In the Results toolbar, select Search EHR. The search looks for any NextGen® Enterprise EHR documents or images that are associated with the encounter for the selected order. It returns any documents or images found in the Select Documents and Images window. Select the check box for the document to link. Select OK. In the Results toolbar, select Link. The document is now linked to the test order. Select the Document Status of the document or image from the Document Status list, for example, Pending. To view the document linked to the order, select the Documents, Images, and Urls tab. The document or image opens. Parent topic: New Document and Images Entry Tab

Search for a Document or Image Outside of NextGen® Enterprise EHR to Link

On the Orders Summary tab, select a completed test. To expand the Results panel, select the down arrow. Select the New Documents and Images Entry tab. In the Results toolbar, select Browse File System A window opens where you can browse and select an external image/document to link. Select Open. In the Category field, select a category for this image/document. In the Description field , and enter a description for this image/document. The document description cannot be longer than 40 characters. Note: You may not use the characters \ / ? % # & < > “ ‘ @ * : { } | + in the Description field name when manually entering a new document or image. Select OK . The document is now ready to attach to this order. In the Results toolbar, select Link. The document/image is now linked to this test order. Using the Results Panel

You can perform the following actions in the Results panel on the Orders Summary tab: Enter test results coming in with an interface using the Formatted Results, Grid Results, or Documents, Images, and URLs tabs. Manually enter results using the New Results Entry tab. Manually enter related documents using the New Document and Images Entry tab. View and add tracking comments. Send lab results to NextGen® PxP Portal. The actions available on the Results panel toolbar change depending on which type of results are being viewed or created. Set Up Document Linking Practice Preferences

To link DM images to orders functions in DM and PAQ, your practice must first set up the appropriate order type filter preferences. To select the default order preferences that the system displays in DM and the PAQ for document linking, do the following: Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > EHR > Practices > Preferences > Orders Module. Select All tab. In the Orders / Results Linking section, select the default order type to display when selecting orders to link to a scanned document. If your practice receives the majority of radiology test results as scanned documents, select Diagnostics/Radiology as the Default View. In the Order Type and Default Source section, select the Default Source for each Order Type. If your practice places the majority of your Radiology orders in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, select Adaptive Content Engine (as the source). If Lab Orders are placed in or processed to the Order module, select the Orders Module as the source for that order type

Scan and Link an Image in DM

Open NextGen® Document Management. Access a document or image using Scan & File or Batches. Select a Document type. Note: The selected Document Type must have the Potential Order Resultcheck box selected in File Maintenance. Select a patient. The open orders (that is, not Signed off or Completed) display. The default Order/Result Linking preferences you selected in File Maintenance appear. Note: In this example, the practice has set up their default view to display Labs and the Order module as the default source. However, for another document type, for example a Radiology image, the user can select the appropriate display options on the Link tab. Select a test order from either the default view or by selecting another order type or order source. If necessary, you can unlink an image from an order. For example, if a different DM image needs to be linked to an order. Note: You can only unlink an image that has been linked to an order processed in the Orders module. To link the image to a

Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > EHR > Practices > Preferences > Orders Module. Select All tab. In the Orders / Results Linking section, select Diagnostics/Radiology as the default view. In the Order Type and Default Source section, select the following options: Diagnostics/Radiology: Orders Module Lab Orders: Orders Module Referrals: NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine Templates In the Adaptive Content Engine Order Status Update Upon Sign-off section, select the following options: Diagnostics: Result Received Lab Orders: Result Received Referrals: Completed Note: When linking a scanned document for a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine order, the system updates the order status based on the selections the uses makes in the Adaptive Content Engine Order Status Update Upon Sign-off section.
