Search for a Document or Image Outside of
NextGen® Enterprise EHR
to Link
On the
Orders Summary
tab, select a completed test.
To expand the
Results
panel, select the down arrow.
Select the
New Documents and Images Entry
tab.
In the Results toolbar, select Browse File System
A window opens where you can browse and select an external image/document to link.
Select
Open
.
In the
Category
field, select a category for this image/document.
In the
Description field
, and enter a description for this image/document. The document description cannot be longer than 40 characters.
Note:
You may
not
use the characters \ / ? % # & < > “ ‘ @ * : { } | + in the
Description
field name when manually entering a new document or image.
Select
OK
.
The document is now ready to attach to this order.
In the
Results
toolbar, select
Link
.
The document/image is now linked to this test order.
To view the linked document/image, select the
Documents, Images and Urls
tab.
The document or image opens.

Search NextGen® Enterprise EHR for Documents or Images to Link
On the Orders Summary tab, select a completed test. To expand the Results panel, select the down arrow. Select the New Documents and Images Entry tab. In the Results toolbar, select Search EHR. The search looks for any NextGen® Enterprise EHR documents or images that are associated with the encounter for the selected order. It returns any documents or images found in the Select Documents and Images window. Select the check box for the document to link. Select OK. In the Results toolbar, select Link. The document is now linked to the test order. Select the Document Status of the document or image from the Document Status list, for example, Pending. On the New Document and Images tab, you can attach documents and images to lab and radiology orders. Test results are available in electronic form or paper form. If your test results are paper-based, you can scan the document and link it to the test order result. You can also search for other NextGen® Enterprise EHR documents on your file systems and other documents, such as Document Management (DM) images, and Microsoft® Word (.doc and -.docx formats). You must have permission assigned to link orders results and documents. Your System Administrator assigns your permissions. The New Document and Images Entry tab provides the following toolbar options. Option Description Select panel Selects a result panel. Integrate a Document Macro to Filter Finding Images
Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select a patient. Select an existing encounter or create an encounter and open the template that contains the Graphical Exam Tool (GET) component. The GET component window opens. In the REASON FOR VISIT pane, select the Menu icon, and then select Manage Reasons for Visit. The Reasons for Visit window opens. From the list at the bottom of the window, select the reason and select Add. From the IMAGES panes, select the Images check box, select FINDINGS and annotate the GET image. A new row is added in the Findings Data Grid with the findings details. An icon appears in the Findings Data Grid row denoting that multiple images are attached to the finding. On the NextGen® Enterprise EHR toolbar, select Save. All the images saved to the patient's chart are renamed to the image description that is Finding Name-Region Description( x. x). From the Categories tab, open the document that contains the GET images and select Generate. The generated document displays the
