Orders Management Console

The Orders Management Console is used for loading lab and radiology test compendiums into NextGen® Enterprise EHR. It is accessed through the application launcher. The Orders Management Console can also be used to update test compendiums that are loaded into your NextGen® Enterprise EHR database. The importing and updating of vendor specific compendiums is based on NextGen® Enterprise EHR's support of the compendium for that specific vendor, for example Labcorp. The current version of NextGen® Enterprise EHR can only be used to add and update the NextGen, LOINC, Quest compendiums, and Labcorp compendiums. Orders Module

You can use the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module to create and manage your lab and radiology orders (also known as diagnostic imaging orders). You can perform the following tasks from the Orders module: Place and send lab and radiology orders. Complete unfinished lab or radiology orders for a patient that originate from a bulk order generated through NextGen Care® Population Management Hub. Choosing advanced imaging tests by their appropriate use criteria (AUC) scores when you place a radiology order. Set up order filters for your practice or private use. Set up schedules for future and recurring orders. Add, view, and track order comments from different areas of the Orders module. Enter test results manually or view test results received from an interface. Send lab results to NextGen® PxP Portal. To use the Orders module, you must first set up tests, SAP® Crystal Reports®, master file data, practice preferences, and user permissions for orders at your practice. For more informati

Orders Master Files Content

The Orders Module supports both standard lab tests (blood work, urinalysis, etc.) and radiology tests (x-rays, MRIs, etc.). These tests must be selected and defined for your practice. You can use the tests in the NextGen compendium; you can use the tests from your testing entities (such asLabcorp); or, you can define your own set of tests. Before setting up the NextGen Compendium or Orders Tests, to ensure the most recent compendiums are loaded, your system administrator should run the Order Management Console. The test settings, questions and other definitions for the Orders Module are set up using File Maintenance. The master files store all data needed by the Orders Module, and they must also be properly set up before you can use the Orders Module. The following master files are set up and updated in File Maintenance. Master File Description Order Tests You can manually add or modify tests and their appropriate codes in the Order Tests master file. Tip: Create this table first. Order Components The Order Components master file stores units and reference range data for individual tests. This is useful if using the NextGen results view or if you are entering results manually. Tip: Create this table second. Order Test Favorites You can manually create Order Test Favorites Groups that consist of specific tests used by a provider. Tip: Create this table last. Order Result Notifications In the Order Result Notifications master file you can build a list of users to notify when test results are received. Create a Lab Order Workflow

This procedure provides the basic steps to create a lab order. When you create an order, you must complete all required fields that have been set up as Mandatory Data Points in File Maintenance Practice Preferences. These required fields appear in red text. If you do not fill in a required field, when you try to save your information, a message appears, prompting you to complete the field.
