Assign Questions to Ask When Ordering Tests

After a set of AOE questions has been defined for your database, you can assign them to one or more tests. For tests that have questions assigned, the Order module prompts the user to answer the questions before the new test order can be sent to the testing entity. Select File Maintenance > Master Files > EHR > Order Tests. Do one of the following: Select System and enter a lab system name. Select Description and enter part of the test description. Select a test from the list of returned tests. Select the Options tab. Select the folder next to Ask at Order Entry Questions. Then, in the Available section, select one of the available AOE questions in your database. Select the arrow to move that test to the Included section. To save questions with the order test, select OK. Select OK to save this updated test and close the Modify Order Test Information window. Parent topic: Orders Setup and Maintenance

Order Test Master File and Test Groups

The NextGen® Enterprise EHR version 5.5 master file Lab Test Group does not exist in NextGen® Enterprise EHR version 5.6 or version 5.7. It has been replaced in these versions with an Options tab on the Order Tests master file where you can add test Components to an Order. Orders Master Files Content

The following master files are set up and updated in File Maintenance. Master File Description Order Tests You can manually add or modify tests and their appropriate codes in the Order Tests master file. Tip: Create this table first. Order Components The Order Components master file stores units and reference range data for individual tests. This is useful if using the NextGen results view or if you are entering results manually. Tip: Create this table second. Order Test Favorites You can manually create Order Test Favorites Groups that consist of specific tests used by a provider. Tip: Create this table last. Order Result Notifications In the Order Result Notifications master file you can build a list of users to notify when test results are received. Order Results Sequences You can create the display order in which test results are displayed in the result flow sheet. Set up this table after results are received. Add or Modify a Radiology Order in the Master File

Each radiology test used in the Orders module must have a performing entity assigned to it. Before you can apply results to a radiology test, you have to map (assign) a performing entity for each test by using File Maintenance > Master File > System > Order Tests. Note: Currently there are no available radiology test lists from a specific performing entity to be loaded into the radiology list (in the same way you can use the Labcorp list for test orders), so you must define them one at a time using File Maintenance. Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > Order Tests.The Order Tests List window opens. From the Order Tests List window, select open menu , and then select New. The Add/Modify Order Test Information window displays the Test Details tab. Enter the test order details. Note: If you try to map a code for a radiology test master to a value such as R for Reserved_1 and then try to map another radiology test to the same value, an error appears. Copy Order Tests in File Maintenance

You can copy an existing test and add it to the list of tests for another test entity. To copy an order test, select Master Files > System > Order Tests. Select to focus the search on Order Test Key and enter the name of an existing test. Select to highlight the desired test. Right-click and select Copy. The Copy Master File window opens. Select the drop-down arrow on the Please Select a System field. Select to select a testing entity. Select in the Please enter the Lab Key field and enter a test order name. Order Test Favorites

The Orders module allows you to create both lab and radiology test order favorites in File Maintenance. Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > Order Test Favorites. Select New. The Add Order Test Favorites or Modify Order Test Favorites window opens. Select the test entity System or select the NextGen Compendium Favorite. Select whether the Order Type is lab or radiology. Give the Test Favorites group a name by entering text in the Description field. Select the Folder icon. Use the Available orders test list to select which tests need to be added to this lab test favorites set. After the test is selected, select the arrow to move them into the Included list for this test favorites group. After all tests in your favorites group have been selected, select OK to close the selection window. Select OK to save the new Test Favorites group. Note: If you try and create a test favorites group with the same name as an existing group, it issues a message and does not allow you to save
