Adding or Modifying a Test Order in the Order Tests List

Each test vendor has to have each test order used in NextGen® Enterprise EHR defined for that specific vendor. For example, if you use three vendors to process tests, and you have common tests for blood work, glucose, cholesterol, throat cultures and iron counts, you must create three versions of each test, one version for each vendor. This graphic shows an example of a Glucose test in the master files defined for three different vendors. Note: When searching for items in the Order Tests List, you can change the focus of the search from System to Order Test Key to Order Test Description by selecting in the menu bar to move the highlight button to the item on which you want to use to complete the search. Add or Modify a Radiology Order in the Master File

Each radiology test used in the Orders module must have a performing entity assigned to it. Before you can apply results to a radiology test, you have to map (assign) a performing entity for each test by using File Maintenance > Master File > System > Order Tests. Note: Currently there are no available radiology test lists from a specific performing entity to be loaded into the radiology list (in the same way you can use the Labcorp list for test orders), so you must define them one at a time using File Maintenance. Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > Order Tests.The Order Tests List window opens. From the Order Tests List window, select open menu , and then select New. The Add/Modify Order Test Information window displays the Test Details tab. Enter the test order details. Note: If you try to map a code for a radiology test master to a value such as R for Reserved_1 and then try to map another radiology test to the same value, an error appears. You can manually add or modify tests and their appropriate codes in the Order Test master file. Because you must have a test to associate a component with, you must create this file first. Select Order Test Components

After creating all of the necessary and needed order components and order tests, you can add one or more components to a test order. From File Maintenance > Master Files > System selection list, select Order Tests. Enter the Order Test details: System, Key, Description, Code System, Order Type and NextGen Compendium Test Key. After the basic test information is added, continue on the Options tab to select test components. Select the Options tab. At the bottom of this window is the Components section. Select the Components folder . One at a time, select each test that is a part of this test group. Select the right arrow to add it to the Included list. When you have added all components, select OK. All test components now display in the Components pane of this window. Select OK to save this update and exit the Order Tests master file. Order Test Favorites

The Orders module allows you to create both lab and radiology test order favorites in File Maintenance. Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > Order Test Favorites. Select New. The Add Order Test Favorites or Modify Order Test Favorites window opens. Select the test entity System or select the NextGen Compendium Favorite. Select whether the Order Type is lab or radiology. Give the Test Favorites group a name by entering text in the Description field. Select the Folder icon. Use the Available orders test list to select which tests need to be added to this lab test favorites set. After the test is selected, select the arrow to move them into the Included list for this test favorites group. After all tests in your favorites group have been selected, select OK to close the selection window. Select OK to save the new Test Favorites group. Note: If you try and create a test favorites group with the same name as an existing group, it issues a message and does not allow you to save

Link a CPT4 Code to a Specific Test

Select File Maintenance > Master Files > Order Tests. The Order Tests List window opens. Double-click to select a specific test. The Modify Order Test Information window opens. Select the folder next to CPT4 Codes. The CPT4 Code Search window opens. Select the Description heading, and enter a description of the test in the Available field. Select the corresponding test and select the right arrow to link the CPT4 code to the test. To save this CPT4 code with this test, select OK . The CPT4 Code Search window closes. The added CPT4 codes appear in the Modify Order Test Information window. Select OK to exit the Modify Order Test Information window. Parent topic: Assign CPT4 Codes
