Setting Up Test Order Favorites

You can create any number of Order Test Favorites groups for use within your Enterprise. When you create a favorites group, you can create it for the NextGen compendium or for the other entity compendiums (such as Labcorp, Orchard, and others). By setting up the NextGen compendium favorites it can save time if multiple systems are used within the NextGen application. The NextGen® Enterprise EHR has standard compendiums available for NextGen, Labcorp and LOINC that can be installed using the Orders Management Console. If your practice deals with labs that have not been mapped to the NextGen compendium, once it is installed, you can use File Maintenance to map the NextGen tests to your tests. Note: NextGen® Enterprise EHR, version 5.7 and later does not come with default compendiums loaded. Order Test Master File and Test Groups

The NextGen® Enterprise EHR version 5.5 master file Lab Test Group does not exist in NextGen® Enterprise EHR version 5.6 or version 5.7. It has been replaced in these versions with an Options tab on the Order Tests master file where you can add test Components to an Order. The following master files are set up and updated in File Maintenance. Master File Description Order Tests You can manually add or modify tests and their appropriate codes in the Order Tests master file. Tip: Create this table first. Order Components The Order Components master file stores units and reference range data for individual tests. This is useful if using the NextGen results view or if you are entering results manually. Orders Management Console

The Orders Management Console is used for loading lab and radiology test compendiums into NextGen® Enterprise EHR. It is accessed through the application launcher. The Orders Management Console can also be used to update test compendiums that are loaded into your NextGen® Enterprise EHR database. The importing and updating of vendor specific compendiums is based on NextGen® Enterprise EHR's support of the compendium for that specific vendor, for example Labcorp. The current version of NextGen® Enterprise EHR can only be used to add and update the NextGen, LOINC, Quest compendiums, and Labcorp compendiums. The Orders Module supports both standard lab tests (blood work, urinalysis, etc.) and radiology tests (x-rays, MRIs, etc.). These tests must be selected and defined for your practice. You can use the tests in the NextGen® compendium; you can use the tests from your testing entities (such as Labcorp); or, you can define your own set of tests. Before setting up the NextGen Compendium or Orders Tests, to ensure the most recent compendiums are loaded, your system administrator must run the Order Management Console. The test settings, questions and other definitions for the Orders Module are set up using File Maintenance. The master files store all data needed by the Orders Module, and they must also be properly set up before you can use the Orders Module. You should define these Orders master files first: Order Tests, Order Components, Order Test Favorites, Order AOE Questions and Order AOE Answers.
