Setting Up Test Order Favorites

You can create any number of Order Test Favorites groups for use within your Enterprise. When you create a favorites group, you can create it for the NextGen compendium or for the other entity compendiums (such as Labcorp, Orchard, and others). By setting up the NextGen compendium favorites it can save time if multiple systems are used within the NextGen application. The NextGen® Enterprise EHR has standard compendiums available for NextGen, Labcorp and LOINC that can be installed using the Orders Management Console. If your practice deals with labs that have not been mapped to the NextGen compendium, once it is installed, you can use File Maintenance to map the NextGen tests to your tests. Note: NextGen® Enterprise EHR, version 5.7 and later does not come with default compendiums loaded. Order NextGen Test Compendium Master File

The Order NextGen Test Compendium includes a list of all lab and radiology tests defined by NextGen. Before setting up NextGen Compendium, your system administrator must run the Order Management Console. The Order Management Console maps NextGen compendium codes to individual testing entity tables (such as Labcorp) that a practice uses to process tests. If your practice uses other compendiums, you must perform this process manually. By mapping the NextGen Compendium codes to Order Test codes (vendor compendiums), NextGen® Enterprise EHR enables users to order based on the NextGen compendium codes; and, therefore, ensuring the appropriate mapped vendor code is sent across the interface. This is particularly important when ordering from a template, since the templates are created using NextGen compendium codes. Orders Master Files Content

The following master files are set up and updated in File Maintenance. Master File Description Order Tests You can manually add or modify tests and their appropriate codes in the Order Tests master file. Tip: Create this table first. Order Components The Order Components master file stores units and reference range data for individual tests. This is useful if using the NextGen results view or if you are entering results manually. Tip: Create this table second. Order Test Favorites You can manually create Order Test Favorites Groups that consist of specific tests used by a provider. Tip: Create this table last. Order Result Notifications In the Order Result Notifications master file you can build a list of users to notify when test results are received. Select Order Test Components

After creating all of the necessary and needed order components and order tests, you can add one or more components to a test order. From File Maintenance > Master Files > System selection list, select Order Tests. Enter the Order Test details: System, Key, Description, Code System, Order Type and NextGen Compendium Test Key. After the basic test information is added, continue on the Options tab to select test components. Select the Options tab. At the bottom of this window is the Components section. Select the Components folder . One at a time, select each test that is a part of this test group. Select the right arrow to add it to the Included list. When you have added all components, select OK. All test components now display in the Components pane of this window. Select OK to save this update and exit the Order Tests master file. The Orders Module supports both standard lab tests (blood work, urinalysis, etc.) and radiology tests (x-rays, MRIs, etc.). These tests must be selected and defined for your practice. You can use the tests in the NextGen® compendium; you can use the tests from your testing entities (such as Labcorp); or, you can define your own set of tests. Before setting up the NextGen Compendium or Orders Tests, to ensure the most recent compendiums are loaded, your system administrator must run the Order Management Console. The test settings, questions and other definitions for the Orders Module are set up using File Maintenance. The master files store all data needed by the Orders Module, and they must also be properly set up before you can use the Orders Module. You should define these Orders master files first: Order Tests, Order Components, Order Test Favorites, Order AOE Questions and Order AOE Answers.
