Creating Ask at Order Entry (AOE) Answers
Order AOE Answers in File Maintenance is the master file you use to define the list of answers used for Order AOE questions if the Source type is pick list.
If a test vendor gives you a list of acceptable answers for AOE questions, you can create and link the provided answer list to the questions for that specific testing vendor (for example Quest Diagnostics or Labcorp). This helps to prevent problems with format and content of answers to Order AOE Questions.
The System field on the Order AOE Answers dialog box is selected from a list of performing entities, such as Quest Diagnostics, Orchard and Labcorp.
The Code field is a unique answer ID.
The Description is text that easily identifies the question, for example: Patient Race, Fasting, Weight, Age, etc.
If the question is defined as a required question the Orders Module displays it as bold when you are running NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
For each order and for each question, you must create an instance of the answer. That means if you use multiple testing labs, such as Labcorp, Quest Diagnostics and Orchard to do your testing, you must create a version of "Patient Race" for Labcorp, one for Quest Diagnostics, and one for Orchard.
