Override AOE Answer

The user can set an AOE Answer pick list or template and field name setting at a test order question level. You first must create the new AOE Question answer, and then assign it to an Order Test question.

If you already have an AOE question defined for an order and a pick list (or template field) defined for an AOE question and you want to override the answer values:

  1. Open File Maintenance.
  2. In Master Files, select EHR.
  3. Select to select Order AOE Answers.
  4. Select the Open Menu button and then select New to create a new answer list.
The Add Order AOE Answers window opens.
  5. Define the System, Code for the answer and enter a Description.
  6. Select the Open Menu button to add the list of answer values.
  7. Select Next to move to the new answer value in the pick list.

  8. Select OK to save the new AOE answers.

  9. In File Maintenance, select Order Tests.
The Order Test List window opens.
  10. Focus on System Name, Key or Description and enter some search text, for example a Labcorp test.
The list of available tests displays.

  11. Double-click to select and open the desired test.
  12. Select the Options tab.
The Modify Order Test Information window opens.
  13. Select the Folder button in the Ask at Order Entry Questions section to open the Order AOE Questions window.

  14. Select a test in the list of the Available section and select the right-arrow to select the test for which you want to create an override.
The test moves to the Included section.

  15. Select OK.
  16. From the Ask at Order Entry Questions section, select to highlight the AOE question, then select the Open Menu button and select the Override button.

  17. Select to open the Override Order AOE Answer window.

  18. Select the drop-down arrow and select the override test from the list.
  19. Select OK to save and select OK to close the Modify Order Test Information window.
  20. Select Close to close the Order Tests List.
Once this new value has been applied and saved, the next time you open a patient in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, run the Orders module, and select this test, the override values display in the pick list in place of the original values.
