Create an AOE Answer List
- Select File Maintenance > Master Files > EHR > Order AOE Answers.
- Select New.
- Select the list and select a testing entity system for this question.
Many possible test entity values such as Labcorp and QuestDiag exist.
- Enter an answer Code.
These values are unique to each vendor.
- Enter a Description that explains what the answers are about.
This should be descriptive text such as Fasting, Height, Weight, Race, and so forth.
- Select Open Menu
to enter the answer values.
- One at a time, enter the test answer values referred to in the steps above.
Each question has a different number of legal answers. For example, the legal answers for fasting could be N/Y or No/Yes. The legal answers for Race could be a list like 1,2,3,4,5,9 in one lab but A,B,C,H,I,O in another lab. For sample collection you might have an answer list such as U,V,F. The testing entity provides legal answer values for their test answer requirements.
You must create an answer entry for each answer in the list.
For this example, Patient Fasting has only two legal answers, Y or N. So, you create two AOE Answer entries for the fasting test order like the following sample.
- Put in a Value.
The first value for fasting is Y.
- Select Next.
Continue with the next answer value (N) in the list until the full answer list has been built.
- When the last entry in the list is complete, select OK.
When you go back to the Add Order AOE Answers window, you see all of the answers created for the Patient Fasting question in the value list.
You can go back and update AOE Answer Values and then select OK again to save the update.
Note: The Hide feature can be turned on for AOE Answers, or other master file lists, by selecting the check box. If you do that, it does not display in the list of AOE Answers in File Maintenance unless you turn on the Include Hidden check box on the File Maintenance page.
