Performing Entity Locations

You can set up multiple locations for a single performing entity. You are not required to set up multiple locations for a performing entity; however, if your practice has multiple locations, by setting up this master file, users can easily select the preferred location when working with orders. For example, if your practice has three Quest lab locations in its area, set up faxing for those locations with different fax details so that the order is sent to the appropriate location. You can set up In-House Performing Entity by which the laboratory and diagnostic order items mapped to this entity, are displayed in the list of Common Orders in NextGen® Enterprise EHR Computerized Physician Order Entry. Setting Up Test Order Favorites

You can create any number of Order Test Favorites groups for use within your Enterprise. When you create a favorites group, you can create it for the NextGen compendium or for the other entity compendiums (such as Labcorp, Orchard, and others). By setting up the NextGen compendium favorites it can save time if multiple systems are used within the NextGen application. The NextGen® Enterprise EHR has standard compendiums available for NextGen, Labcorp and LOINC that can be installed using the Orders Management Console. If your practice deals with labs that have not been mapped to the NextGen compendium, once it is installed, you can use File Maintenance to map the NextGen tests to your tests. Note: NextGen® Enterprise EHR, version 5.7 and later does not come with default compendiums loaded. Creating Ask at Order Entry (AOE) Answers

Order AOE Answers in File Maintenance is the master file you use to define the list of answers used for Order AOE questions if the Source type is pick list. If a test vendor gives you a list of acceptable answers for AOE questions, you can create and link the provided answer list to the questions for that specific testing vendor (for example Quest Diagnostics or Labcorp). This helps to prevent problems with format and content of answers to Order AOE Questions. The System field on the Order AOE Answers dialog box is selected from a list of performing entities, such as Quest Diagnostics, Orchard and Labcorp. The Code field is a unique answer ID. The Description is text that easily identifies the question, for example: Patient Race, Fasting, Weight, Age, etc. If the question is defined as a required question the Orders Module displays it as bold when you are running NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For each order and for each question, you must create an instance of the answer. That means if you

Map Payers to Performing Entities

When a performing entity is set for a payer, then the order is created for that performing entity. Open File Maintenance. Select System > Payers. The Payers List window opens. Select an insurance from the list of available payers. The Modify Payer Information window for the selected payer opens. Select Order Module. In the Preferred Performing Entities section, select corresponding to either Lab or Radiology. The Map Payers to Performing Entities window opens. Select to select a performing entity from the System list in the left pane. Select the right-arrow to move the selected entity to the Included pane on the right. Select OK. The selected performing entity appears in the Preferred Performing Entities section on the Modify Payer Information window of the selected payer. Set Up Practice Preferred Performing Entities

Using File Maintenance Practice Preference settings, you can select a default value for the performing entity to use for both lab tests and radiology orders for a selected practice. You can also set up In-House Performing Entity by which the laboratory and diagnostic order items mapped to this entity are displayed in the list of Common Orders in NextGen® Enterprise CPOE. Select File Maintenance > System > Practices. Select a practice. Select Preferences. Select Order module in the Preference List. To display the Lab or Radiology performing entities, select the Open Record button. The list of performing entities appears. Using the right and left arrows, select the Lab and Radiology performing entities. In the Performing Entities window, select OK. Select the Lab Preferred Performing Entity and the In-House Performing Entity from the list. Select the Radiology Preferred Performing Entity and the In-House Performing Entity from the list. Before you begin Ensure that you have configured the performing entities in File Maintenance. For more information, see Configure Performing Entity for Preferences and Configure Performing Entity for Location Preferences. You can select performing entities for laboratory and diagnostic order items. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. Open CPOE. Open the COMMON ORDERS, SEARCH RESULTS, or FAVORITES list. From the Performing Entity list, select the performing entities under Laboratory Performing Entity and Diagnostic Performing Entity. The order items that the selected performing entities support, appear.
