Define Order Result Notifications

The Order Results Notifications master file provides a complete list of users to be notified of test results from a particular external lab system. To define Order result notifications: From the application launcher, select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > Order Result Notifications. The Order Result Notifications List window opens. From the List access box, do one of the following: To add a new item, select Open Menu , and then select New. To modify an item, select the item in the list, select Open Menu , and then select Open. You can also double-click the item to open it. The Add Order Test Results Notification Information window opens. Enter the notification information. To add a user to be notified, select Add. The Address Book window opens. Under Show Users From, select the practice from which you want to select users. Under Available Users and Groups, select the users or groups you want to have notified of test results. The available Users list displays every user in th

Orders Setup and Maintenance

The Orders Module supports both standard lab tests (blood work, urinalysis, etc.) and radiology tests (x-rays, MRIs, etc.). These tests must be selected and defined for your practice. You can use the tests in the NextGen® compendium; you can use the tests from your testing entities (such as Labcorp); or, you can define your own set of tests. Before setting up the NextGen Compendium or Orders Tests, to ensure the most recent compendiums are loaded, your system administrator must run the Order Management Console. The test settings, questions and other definitions for the Orders Module are set up using File Maintenance. The master files store all data needed by the Orders Module, and they must also be properly set up before you can use the Orders Module. You should define these Orders master files first: Order Tests, Order Components, Order Test Favorites, Order AOE Questions and Order AOE Answers. Add or Modify a Test Order

Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > Order Tests. Do one of the following: To add a new item, select open menu , and then select New. To modify an item, double-click the item to open it. Alternately, you can select the item in the list, select open menu , and then select Open. The Modify Order Test Information window displays the Test Details tab. Enter the order test details for each of the listed categories. For those categories that have a folder icon, select the folder and use the resulting window to select items from a list. Select the Specimen Handling tab. Enter the specimen handling information for each individual test order defined. Select the Options tab. Under Update Workflow Task Items, select the users to notify of the test results. These can include the ordering provider, the user who created the order, and an additional user. Copy Order Tests in File Maintenance

You can copy an existing test and add it to the list of tests for another test entity. To copy an order test, select Master Files > System > Order Tests. Select to focus the search on Order Test Key and enter the name of an existing test. Select to highlight the desired test. Right-click and select Copy. The Copy Master File window opens. Select the drop-down arrow on the Please Select a System field. Select to select a testing entity. Select in the Please enter the Lab Key field and enter a test order name. Modifier Categories

The Modifier Categories master file provides a complete list of all modifier categories within the database. The Modifier Categories master file is user-defined. To add or modify a modifier category, do the following: From the Master Files - System list, select Modifier Category. The Modifier Categories List window opens. Do one of the following: To add a new item, select open menu , and then select New. To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, select open menu , and then select Open. You can also double-click to open the item. The Add/Modify Modifier Category Information window opens. Enter a name for the modifier category in the Category field. In the Short Description field, enter a description of up to four characters for the modifier category. To change the modifiers in the category, select Open Folder . The Modifiers window opens. The Available field lists the available modifiers that have not been included in the group. To locate a modifier in the list, enter one

Add or Modify Order Components

Each type of test performed has a normal range of results expected for the information returned with the completed test. These expected result details are defined using File Maintenance as components of the test. This also eases the use of manual result entry. When entering results in the module the expected result list is shown and only the result and status information would need to be entered rather than all of the information. This section is also used for LOINC mapping (Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes) between different performing entity components. Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > EHR > Order Components. The Order Components List window opens. From the List access box, do one of the following: To add a new item, select the Open Menu icon, and then select New.
