Place Surgery Orders

You can document the details of the surgery, and place surgery orders.

1. On the Surgery Sched template, expand the Place Order panel.
   

2. If the surgery details are documented by a clinical staff, enter notes for coordinators in the Clinical Staff Notes field, as needed.
   Note: The notes added in this field are displayed in the Clinical Staff Notes field on the Coordinator template.
3. To indicate that the preregistration is complete, select the Pre-Reg Complete check box.
   Note: The following fields are automatically filled with the details from the preregistration workflow templates. You can click Pre-reg to open and update the details on the preregistration workflow templates.

   • Pre-Reg Done
   • Clinical 1
   • Clinical 2
4. Click Place Order.
   The results are as follows:

   • The surgery order is placed and the order details are added to the Orders Placed grid.
   • The surgery order is sent to the Surgery Scheduling Worklog template for coordinators to track the surgery details.
   • If the Provider Approval Queue (PAQ) sign-off is configured for the surgery location, the surgery order document is automatically generated.

   Note: If any required information is not documented, a message appears stating that the required information needs to be filled before placing an order. You can document the required information, and then place the order.
5. Type any additional messages in the blank field below the Order Status/Messages grid, and click Add Message.

   The Order Status/Messages grid automatically adds order statuses as messages. You can add any additional messages, if needed.

   The message is added to the Order Status/Messages grid.
6. To complete documenting the surgery details on this template, do one of the following:
   • If the surgery order is documented by a mid-level provider and needs to be sent to the surgeon for approval, select the Template Completed by PA/Other check box, and assign a task to the desired surgeon on the Add New Task window that opens.
   • If the surgery order is documented by a clinical staff and needs to be sent to the surgeon for approval, select the Template Completed by Clinical Staff check box, and assign a task to the desired surgeon on the Add New Task window that opens.
7. To sign off the surgery order as a provider, do one of the following:
   • Select the Signed/Approved by Surgeon check box, and assign a task to the desired user, if needed.

     If the PAQ sign-off is disabled for the surgery location, the Signed/Approved by Surgeon check box and the associated fields are displayed. You can select this check box to sign off the surgery order, and the surgery order document is automatically generated when the provider selects this check box. You can also generate the surgery order document by clicking the Surgery Order icon.

     If the PAQ sign-off is enabled for the surgery location, the Signed/Approved by Surgeon check box and the associated fields are not displayed, and the surgery order document is automatically generated when you click Place Order.

   You can enable or disable the PAQ sign-off functionality in the Submit & Signoff panel on the Miscellaneous Configuration practice template, and configure surgery document generation in the Surgery Scheduling - Document Generation panel on the Document Config system template.
