Documenting Medical Clearance Details

You can add and track the medical clearance details of a patient for scheduling a surgery. You can document the following medical clearance details of patient in the Medical Clearance panel on the Surgery Sched template. Pre-op clearance Primary care provider Specialty clearance Medications Anticoagulants Bridging RA Medication Instructions Antibiotics Chronic pain management Medical Clearance panel on the Surgery Scheduling template If a primary care provider is added for a patient, the provider name is automatically filled in the PCP field. You must enter a pre-op clearance before signing off or approve the Surgery Sched template. Note: You can configure the picklists for the fields in the Medical Clearance panel. Patient History for Scheduling Surgeries

You can review, add, and update histories of a patient for scheduling a surgery. The Histories panel on the Surgery Sched template enables you to review the diagnoses, histories, medications, allergies, and outside diagnostic studies of the patient prior to the surgery. Changing Surgery Schedules

You can cancel, revise, and reschedule the existing surgery orders. On the Surgery Sched template, in the Place Order panel, you can use the following check boxes to cancel, revise, or reschedule the existing surgery orders. Cancel Revised Reschedule Cancel, Revised, Reschedule check boxes in the Place Order panel When you cancel, revise, or reschedule a surgery order, the changes in the surgery schedule are reflected on the Coordinator template. The Order Status/Messages grid displays the changes in the surgery order status, your name, and the date and time of the change. You can also enter a message in the message field, and click Add Message for manually adding messages to the grid. If you need to add patients to the wait list or their surgery is rescheduled, you can click Add to Waitlist to send the patient’s information to the Wait List template. Use the Surgery Sched template to enter surgery-related information. The information can be entered by the clinical staff, but must be reviewed and signed off by a provider or surgeon. Surgery Scheduling Workflow

The surgery scheduling workflow for NextGen® Orthopedic Suite begins on the Surgery Sched template. The information can be entered by clinical staff but must be reviewed and signed off by a provider or surgeon. You can use QuickPick to fill standard information for each surgery type and then add patient specific information. Note: Best practice recommends that you open the Surgery Sched template on its own encounter. Surgeries may be scheduled months in advance and this enables the coordinators to unlock the encounter without having to worry about changing documentation for a previous visit. Surgery Scheduling Template Wait List Tracking Surgery Orders You can track surgery orders, add coordinator notes, and generate various documents and patient letters on the Coordinator template. Pre-Authorization for Surgeries You can use the Pre Auth template to add and track the authorization details for scheduling the surgery of a patient. Configure the Surgery Location Picklist

You can configure the Location picklist that appear on the Surgery Sched medical record template. Location field on the Surgery Scheduling template The Location picklist on the Surgery Sched medical record template contain all the locations where surgery can be performed. On the IORTS Cfg Surgery Schedule system template, expand the Location panel. From the Surgery Location grid, select one or more locations. Surgery Location section in the Location panel To select all locations, select Select All check box. A check mark appear before all the selected locations in the Surgery Location grid.
