NextGen® Orthopedic Suite Home

You can use the Home template to access all the modules of the NextGen® Orthopedic Suite and view the summary of the medical and surgical history, medications, allergies, injections, and diagnostic tests for a patient. The recommended workflow is to begin a patient encounter on the Home template. From the Home template, you can use the workflow tabs and the links to access various templates of the NextGen® Orthopedic Suite. You can initiate a Scribe Encounter only on the Home template. You can also configure the Home template to exclude the radiology tests with the Cancelled or Error status in the All Internal Radiology Orders grid. Surgery Scheduling Workflow

The surgery scheduling workflow for NextGen® Orthopedic Suite begins on the Surgery Sched template. The information can be entered by clinical staff but must be reviewed and signed off by a provider or surgeon. You can use QuickPick to fill standard information for each surgery type and then add patient specific information. Note: Best practice recommends that you open the Surgery Sched template on its own encounter. Surgeries may be scheduled months in advance and this enables the coordinators to unlock the encounter without having to worry about changing documentation for a previous visit. Order Referrals in the Referral Order Template

You can place referral orders for other specialties, providers, therapies, and durable medical equipment. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Referral Order. The Referral Order template opens. To add diagnoses and procedures for the order, select Dx & Px. Note: Selecting procedures is optional; however, you must select at least one diagnosis to order referrals. Optional: To indicate that the referral is internal, select Internal referral. Select the date of injury and insurance name. Note: By default, the encounter date appears in Date. You can change the date, if needed. The policy number is automatically filled based on the selected insurance name. You can document the details of a patient for the provider's reference. Billing Approval Template

The Billing Approval template documents any billing approval requirements. If a pre-authorization is required, or specific information regarding a work comp claim or auto liability claim, this authorization information can be tracked on this template. This template consists of three panels: Demographic- This panel contains the patient’s contact information and best times to reach the patient. This information carries forward from the Pre Reg template but can be edited here if needed. The patient status will pull over from NextGen® Enterprise PM and is read-only. Insurance-The Insurance panel pulls insurance information from the encounter. This information is read-only and cannot be updated from this panel. There are places for users to record pre-authorization information and details regarding that information for work comp, auto/liability, self-pay, care source, and Misc. Preregistration of Patients

You can contact patients, and do the preregistration before their visit to the office. On the Pre Reg template, you can document the chief complaints, appointment details, patient demographics, and insurance details of a patient. You can also document additional details about the appointment, and generate letters for the preregistration of the patient. You can manually add the details of the preregistered patients to the Pre-Reg Worklog template by clicking the Scanned-Add to Worklog button.
