Documenting Medical Clearance Details

You can add and track the medical clearance details of a patient for scheduling a surgery. You can document the following medical clearance details of patient in the Medical Clearance panel on the Surgery Sched template. Pre-op clearance Primary care provider Specialty clearance Medications Anticoagulants Bridging RA Medication Instructions Antibiotics Chronic pain management Medical Clearance panel on the Surgery Scheduling template If a primary care provider is added for a patient, the provider name is automatically filled in the PCP field. You must enter a pre-op clearance before signing off or approve the Surgery Sched template. Note: You can configure the picklists for the fields in the Medical Clearance panel. Patient History for Scheduling Surgeries

You can review, add, and update histories of a patient for scheduling a surgery. The Histories panel on the Surgery Sched template enables you to review the diagnoses, histories, medications, allergies, and outside diagnostic studies of the patient prior to the surgery. Enter Surgery Details

Prior to scheduling a surgery, you can enter the details of the surgery such as surgeon, assistant, anesthesiologist, anesthetics, admit type, patient position, and specific equipment. You can enter the details of the surgery such as surgeon, assistant, anesthesiologist, anesthetics, admit type, patient position, and specific equipment in the Surgery Information panel on the Surgery Sched template. Surgery Information panel on the Surgery Scheduling template On the Surgery Sched template, expand the Surgery Information panel. Note: The Surgeon and Location fields are mandatory. By default, the rendering provider on the encounter appears in the Surgeon field. You can update the surgeon name or surgery location by clicking the field and selecting the desired option from the list. Add the surgery details in the fields. Surgery Scheduling Template

Use the Surgery Sched template to enter surgery-related information. The information can be entered by the clinical staff, but must be reviewed and signed off by a provider or surgeon. The Surgery Sched template has the following panels: Surgery Information Surgical Risk Index Pre-Surgical Checklist Medical Clearance Histories Insurance Lab/Testing Place Order Surgery Scheduling template Record the Surgery Date and Location Surgery Details of Patients You can document the surgery diagnosis, procedure codes, and surgery details prior to scheduling the surgery for a patient. Adding Surgery Details

You can enter the surgery details on the Surgery Sched template. The following table describes the fields in the Surgery Information panel on the Surgery Sched template. Field Description Urgent/High Priority Order To indicate if the surgery needs to be performed on priority. Patient to call to Schedule To indicate if the patient needs to make a phone call to schedule the surgery. Is Patient a Minor To indicate if the patient is a minor. Is Guardian Present You can select Y if the patient has a guardian, and enter the name and phone number of the guardian. Surgeon Displays the name of the surgeon. You can also click this field and update the surgeon name. Co Surgeon You can select the co-surgeon from the list that opens when you click the field. Assistant You can click the field, and select the assistant from the list. You can add another assistant in the subsequent field. Add Surgery Diagnoses

You can add the surgery diagnoses applicable to the surgery order. Open the Surgery Sched template. Diagnoses on the Surgery Scheduling template In the Surgery Information panel, click DX Codes. The IORTSSurg Dx Sx template opens. Note: The Diagnosis grid on the IORTSSurg Dx Sx template displays the orthopedic or medical history of the patient depending on the selection at the top of the grid. IORTS Surg SX DX template Double-click the diagnosis in the Diagnosis grid to move it to the surgery order. Note: You can add up to eight diagnoses to the surgery order. If you add a diagnosis by mistake, you can remove it by clicking the corresponding eraser icon. You can also add, edit, and remove diagnoses on this IORTSSurg Dx Sx template. Click Save & Close.
