Pre-Surgical Checklist Panel
The Pre-Surgical Checklist displays information that carries forward once information is entered. You can select the Y or N options to capture patient information. Additional information appears in red next to the items marked Y. Cardiac items with a Y, change to read-only.
- When you select Y for HX of MRSA/VRE, two check boxes appear:
- I/D Consult Ordered- Selecting this check box automatically enters “Infectious Disease” and “MRSA” in the Specialty and Reason fields of the Specialty Clearance section of the Medical Clearance panel. You can enter the Provider that the patient is seeing, if known.
- Follow MRSA Guidelines- when selected, the system automatically enters pre-op medications in the Pre-op Medication section of the Medical Clearance panel.
- When you select Y for On RA Drugs, the text Please Address appears and the label of the RA Medication Instructions section in the Medical Clearance panel turns red, to alert users to enter in the RA medication instructions.
- When you select Y for Latex Allergy, the BOARD AS LATEX CASE text appears on the panel and at the top of the Surgery Sched template. It also adds LATEX to the patient’s allergy list.
- When you select Y for Diabetic, an alert opens directing you to add the associated diagnosis to the Patient's history grid.
- When you select Y for Metal Allergy the following items appear:
- Unconfirmed …Send to Allergist - enters Allergy and Unconfirmed metal allergy in the Specialty and Reason fields of the Specialty Clearance section of the Medical Clearance panel. You must enter in the provider the patient is seeing if known.
- Allergy testing not required indicates that the allergy is unconfirmed, but testing is not required.
- Confirmed to reveals check boxes to denote the patient’s confirmed metal allergy: Cobalt, Chromium, or Nickel.
- When you select Y for Sleep Apnea, two additional check boxes appear: Bring CPAP and No CPAP- Board Monitor Bed.
- When you select Y for Anti-coagulants, the red text Please Address appears and the labels of the Pre-Op Anticoags, Bridging, and Post-Op Anticoags medication fields in the Medical Clearance panel turn red to alert the user to enter anticoagulant medication instructions.
- When you select Y for HX DVT/PE, Please Address Perioperatively appears.
