NextGen® Enterprise EHR use templates to record and store patient demographic and medical information electronically. Templates provide a simple way to enter medical information and compile patient records. All of the data entered into a template can later be used for statistical reports, document generation, and further review of the patient's information. NextGen® Enterprise EHR offers a set of predefined templates known as NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine and enables the creation of user-defined templates by system administrators. Based on the setup of a specific template or trigger, some workflows may follow those in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR modules (for example, Medications, Procedures, Problems), and some may be specific to the template. Using Templates

Saving Template Data

NextGen® Enterprise EHR templates enable you to enter patient information into the available fields in a number of ways. After entering all of the required or available information, you can select Save on the Top toolbar to save your template. NextGen® Enterprise EHR automatically saves the template you are working with if another template is launched from it. You can close a template by selecting the Close button on the Top toolbar or the X button. If you did not save your template before closing a template, NextGen® Enterprise EHR opens the Save Template message. Note: If you enter out-of-range data in a numeric/decimal field, an error message appears when you leave the field or try to save the template. You can correct your entry to be within the acceptable range. If you are working with a Group template, the data you enter and save is committed to all of the charts for patients who are members of the specific patient group. Parent topic: Using Templates

Access the Patient Demographics Template

You can also access the Patient Demographics template from Demographics links on various NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. For more information, go to the NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine documentation for the specific template. Open an existing patient in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For more information, refer to the Person and Patient Lookup in EHR section. Open the Select Template window and select the Demographics tab. Select the Patient Demographics template. For more information on selecting a template, go to the NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the Templates User Guide for NextGen Enterprise EHR. The Patient Demographics template appears, displaying the selected patient's information. Expand the panels to view the information in them. You can add or edit information in the enabled fields. Template Types

NextGen® Enterprise EHR offers the following template groups: Template Group Description Demographics Template Demographics Popup Demographics Extended Popup Demographics Extended Popup View Demographics templates store a patient's demographic information, such as the patient's address, employer, primary and referring providers, emergency contact, and insurance information. You can customize Demographic templates to include any patient-related information needed at your facility. Note: You can set an Enterprise Preference to enable practices to edit demographic extended popup data from other practices within the enterprise. The Edit demographic ext data across enterprise preference is set in File Maintenance.
