Using Templates

NextGen® Enterprise EHR uses templates to record and store patient demographic and medical information electronically. Templates provide a simple way to enter medical information and compile patient records. All of the data entered into a template can later be used for statistical reports, document generation, and further review of the patient's information. NextGen® Enterprise EHR offers a set of predefined templates known as the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine and enables the creation of user-defined templates by system administrators. Based on the setup of a specific template or trigger, some workflows may follow those in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR modules (for example, Medications, Procedures, Problems), and some may be specific to the template. Graphical Exam Tool Annotations

The Graphical Exam Tool (GET) enables you to: Place annotations on images to document the location of findings. The placement of the annotations is converted into text and captured as an attribute of the finding. The attributes are saved to the patient's chart. For example, a dermatologist can place findings for cancer on an image. The attributes related to each finding can include size, color, location, or description. Attach a finding to a chief complaint or reason for visit. You can attach multiple findings to different reasons for visit. Mark a finding for follow-up and create a to-do task for the finding. Attach an image (photo or drawing) to a finding. The image can be from the provider's file system or from the patient's chart for the current encounter. You can capture an image from a web cam or other video device for attachment to the finding. Create and update a lab, radiology, or immunizations order for a finding. Integrate Document Macro

The Graphical Exam Tool (GET) enable the document macro{grp_get_exam_data} to filter the finding images by Reason for Visit and enable multiple images relate to a single finding to appear in a document. You can generate a separate document for each reason for visit or procedure, and the Reason For Visit column is available in the document macro. As a result, the images from all the procedures are displayed on all the individual procedure documents. Update Existing Descriptions

The Graphical Exam Tool (GET) allows you to update existing descriptions of patient images with the finding name and region description when they get attached to findings. The image description for each finding is unique. The finding with the same name and region is updated as Finding Name - Region Description(x) , where x increases the image description starting from 2. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select a patient. Select an existing encounter or create an encounter. On the Encounter History or Categories tab, select any image. The image opens. On the main toolbar, select Save. The Save Image File window opens. Enter the Image Description, select the Save image as, and select OK. The image is saved to the patients chart. Open the template that contains the GET component. The GET component window opens. The Graphical Exam Tool (GET) component enables you to create and manage GET settings. This section explains how to create and manage GET settings for profiles, findings, exam tools, procedures, attributes, and reasons for visit. This section also explains how to map findings and exam tools for a given practice, location, and provider. To extract data from the GET into documents, set up a Graphical Exam Summary macro in the Document Builder.
