Encounters in NextGen® Enterprise EHR

An encounter is an interaction with a patient on a specific date at a specific time. An encounter can be a visit, a phone call, a virtual visit, a referral, a test result, or an interaction. A patient can have more than one encounter per day. Patient encounters are displayed on the Encounter History tab.

You can expand or collapse the Encounter History tab using the button above the Quick Buttons panel.

Each row in the Encounter History tab represents one encounter. Encounters are identified by date and time, provider, and location. The Encounter History tab displays basic information of an encounter like the rendering provider, location, appointment type/reason for visit, templates and documents related to the appointment.
