Lock an Encounter

Before you begin

Ensure that the Rights > Operations > Encounters > Lock Patient Encounter in System Administrator is set to True and the necessary access rights are enabled. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest System Administrator Guide forNextGen®Enterprise.
To prevent changes or additions to a patient encounter, you can lock the encounter. You can create an addendum to add documents or images to a locked encounter.
  1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from Patient Lookup window.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • On the Encounter History tab, select an encounter, select Encounter Options, and then select Lock Encounter.
    • From the File menu, select New > Lock Encounter.
    The NextGen EHR Security Lock Encounter window opens.
  3. Enter your User Name and Password.
  4. To change the Enterprise or Practice, select the applicable options from the respective list.
  5. Select Lock.
    The selected encounter is locked. On the Encounter History tab, a locked icon appears for the encounter.
