Unlock an Encounter

Before you begin

Ensure that the Rights > Operations > Encounters > Unlock Patient Encounter in System Administrator is set to True and the necessary access rights are enabled. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest System Administrator Guide forNextGen®Enterprise.
You can unlock a previously locked encounter. After you have unlocked an encounter, you may lock it again at any time.
  1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from Patient Lookup window.
  2. On the Encounter History tab, select an encounter, select Encounter Options , and then select Unlock Encounter.
    The NextGen EHR Security Unlock Encounter window opens.
  3. Enter your User Name and Password.
    You must provide your log on information to unlock an encounter.
  4. To change the Enterprise or Practice, select the applicable options from each list.
  5. Select Unlock.
    NextGen® Enterprise EHR unlocks the selected encounter. On the Encounter History tab, an unlock icon appears for the encounter.
