The
Properties
tab on the
Patient Portal Message
window allows you to configure the following:
Priority level
Delayed delivery
Read Receipt
Do Not Reply
Set Priority Level for a Message
Set the Message Delivery Time
You can schedule a
NextGen® PxP Portal
message when you compose it, send a draft, or send a message from a template.
Request Read Receipts
You can only enable the receipt option on
NextGen® PxP Portal
messages sent outside of your organization.
Prevent Recipients from Replying
You can block patients and care managers from being able to reply to a
NextGen® PxP Portal
message.

Set the Message Delivery Time
Before you begin If your practice does not save patient charts in the database, the user account that runs the NextGen® Queue Processing Service must have write access to the file location where the chart messages are saved. You must set the scheduled delivery values to be greater than the current date and time. Note: You can set up a template trigger that opens the Patient Portal Message window. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Templates User Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From the main toolbar, select the Inbox button. The Workflow window opens. Select Compose. The Patient Portal Message window opens. After composing a message, sending a draft, or selecting a template trigger, select the Properties tab. Select Delayed Delivery. Request Read Receipts
From the main toolbar, select the Inbox button. The Workflow window opens. Select Compose. The Patient Portal Message window opens. When composing a message, select the Properties tab. Do one of the following actions: To receive a read receipt for the message that you are composing, select I would like a read receipt for this message. To apply the read receipt preference for all messages, select Set this preference for all messages. To receive a notification if the patient has not read your message within a time period, select I would like a notification if not read in, and then specify the time frame in hours. On the NextGen® Enterprise PM main toolbar, select the Mailbox button. From the list in the upper-right corner of the window, select Patient Portal. Important: The Patient Portal option does not appear in the list if your NextGen® PxP Portal license is not available or has expired. A list of patient portal folders appears in the left pane. A list of messages appears in the right pane. Select the New Message button.. The Patient Portal Message window opens. When composing a message, select the Properties tab. Compose and Send Messages
Before you begin Ensure that the Patient Messaging online solution is active in Site Generator so that messages sent from NextGen® Enterprise applications can reach the patient's NextGen® PxP Portal mailbox. When you or your co-workers initiate a message, the Category column displays Practice Initiated in the Outbox grid view. For messages that are sent as replies to practice initiated messages, the Category column is blank. Remember to set the Do Not Reply option if you do not want the recipients to be able to respond. On the NextGen® Enterprise PM main toolbar, select the Mailbox button. From the list in the upper-right corner of the window, select Patient Portal. Important: The Patient Portal option does not appear in the list if your NextGen® PxP Portal license is not available or has expired. A list of patient portal folders appears in the left pane. Schedule a Delayed NextGen® PxP Portal Message
If the Patient Portal trigger action is Schedule Messages, you can schedule a message for future delivery to a patient enrolled in NextGen® PxP Portal. This feature is available only when you compose a message or send a draft. Scheduled messages are stored in the Patient Portal > Communications > Scheduled folder in the Workflow module. Note: If chart messages are saved to a file location, the user account that runs the NextGen® Queue Processing Service needs to have write access to that file location. For more information on delayed message scheduling, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest NextGen® PxP Portal Provider Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Ask your system administrator which NextGen® Enterprise EHR template and field to use. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, select the template that contains the Patient Portal trigger, and then select OK to open it. Execute the Patient Portal trigger on the applicable field.
