Manage Your Responses

If you are responding to a message that is sent to a distribution list you belong to, you can reply only after you take ownership of the message.
  1. From the main toolbar, select the Inbox button.
    The Workflow window opens.
  2. Select the Patient Portal tab.
    The Communications, Prescriptions, Appointments, and Online Forms folders appear in the left pane. The messages appear in the right pane.
  3. Do one the following actions:
    • To reply to the sender, select Reply. The To field fills in with the name of the person from whom you received the message. If the patient sent you the message, the patient's name appears.
    • To reply to the patient, on Reply, select the arrow next to Reply, and then select To Patient. The patient's name fills in the To field.
    • To reply to everyone, select the arrow next to Reply, and then select To All.
  4. Either enter your message or add a standard response.
  5. Optional: Perform one or more of the following actions:
    • Add any attachments.
    • Configure message properties.

  6. Do one of the following:
    • To send and add the response to a new, locked encounter, select Send & Chart.
    • To send and add the response to a new, unlocked encounter, select the arrow next to Send & Chart, and then select Add to New Encounter (Unlocked).
    • To send and add the response to the original, unlocked encounter, select the arrow next to Send & Chart, and then select Add to Original Unlocked Encounter.
    • To send and add the response to the recent encounters, select the arrow next to Send & Chart, and then select Add To <Encounter Date and Time>.
    • To send the message without adding it to the chart, select the arrow next to Send & Chart, and then Do Not Add to Chart.
    The response is sent. You can access the sent item from the Outbox folder.
